Information Technology Officer (Programmer) Job in Kenya

Kenya Episcopal Conference-Catholic Secretariat wishes to recruit qualified persons for the following position.

Information Technology Officer (Programmer)

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Writes, compiles, and modifies applications programs for computerized systems and keys into program code
  • Develops or acquires test data and runs tests to determine the accuracy of program logic to produce desired results; debugs and revises programs based on test results

  • Use program specifications to prepare the logic sequence of program source statements in the development, modification, documentation, and maintenance of computer programs
  • Develops and prepares documents for the general design of solutions that meet system and security requirements, including the selection of alternative approaches
  • Develops applications to be used in server
  • Develops and maintains automated data processing systems and computer application programs
  • Develops specifications to detail what new systems or enhancements to existing systems can accomplish
  • Serves as liaison with users concerning requests, usage, standards, security, and other developmental and production matters
  • Develops detailed systems operations designs
  • Tests programs and systems and integrates system modules
  • Converts and implements new systems or upgrades existing systems
  • Develops, implements, and monitors information technology quality assurance Standards
  • Develops cost estimates for systems development and upgrades to existing systems.
  • Provides training or arranges for system users
  • Maintains records and prepares reports and correspondence related to the work.
  • Performs related work as assigned
Required Qualifications/Skills:
  • Has a Bachelors degree in Business Information Technology and a first degree in Information Communications Technology or Computer Science
  • Professional courses in Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), CISCO Networking course and Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA)
  • Knowledge of programming languages such as C++, Visual Basic, COBOL, and other generative and contemporary languages such as PowerBuilder and Java
Performance Indicators
  • Extent of carrying out duties and responsibility in #1 above.
Personal Traits
  • Is a committed Catholic, with good recommendation from own Parish Priest
  • Is a person of attested integrity, with high degree of stewardship of resources
  • Is innovative and assertive
  • Able to work with minimal supervision
