Enterprise Development Officer (EDO) job in Kenya

The Agribusiness Initiative component (aBi) is one of the three components of the U-Growth programme aimed at supporting the private sector in at the objectives of the government of Uganda's Competitive and Investment Climate Strategy (CICS) The component is managed by the Agriculture' Business Initiative Trust (aBi Trust). The aBi is an institution set up by the country In particular it is to support the private sector to increase the contribution to the agricultural sector by increasing land and labour productivity hence contribute to poverty reduction through economic growth, wealth, and employment creation

The vision of aBi trust is of competitive private sector led agriculture in Uganda with selection of the sub-components has been made by identification of some major constraints to agribusiness development

The aBi achieves its mission and vision through interrelated sub-components.The selection of the sub-components has been made by identification of some major constraints to agribusiness development.

Description: The sub components are;
•Value chain development leading to improved performance of value chain actors.
•Financial Services development leading lo expansion of financial services by supporting agribusiness in order lo increased availability and use of financial services
•Trade-related Sanitary and Phytosanilary (SPS) and Quality Management Systems (QMS) leading to increased trade opportunities.
•Gender for Growth leading to gender equality integration and mainstreaming in all aBi activities.

aBi Trust will achieve its objectives in a holistic way using the value chain approach but integrating its interventions with value chain actors to include access to appropriate financial services while also addressing the quality mainstreaming issues and gender concerns.

Position: Enterprise Development Officer (EDO)
Reports: Value chain Manager

Key Responsibilities:
The EDO shall be responsible for all Trust's operational matters relating to agro input supply and enterprise development, inclusive but not limited to:
•Developing operational plans in accordance to goals and practices sell by the Board of Trustees
•Cooperate with other relevant stakeholders in the sector, including private sector organizations, development partners and government institutions
•Ensuring that contractual arrangement (contracting, outsourcing and partnering) meet the trust's corporate and legal requirements
•Ensuring that experts and contracted business development service providers deliver the agreed and defined outputs evaluation system
•Providing technical support to product and commodity platforms
•Supporting Value Chain commercialization through promotion productivity enhancing technologies
•Developing the distribution network of agro input dealers
•Developing business management capacity of supported agro input Dealers
• Any other duties as may be assigned to him/her

Requirements: Required experience:
The EDO shall have at least 5 years working experience with proven experience of:
•Enterprise development
• Market development for business service providers
• Small holder farmer’s development
• Agro input supply chain development and management
• Good agricultural practices

Academic qualification;
The EOD shall have a degree in Agriculture. A masters Degree in Agricultural Economic, Business Administration or related fields will be an added advantage
