Executive Director - Community Mobilization Against Desertification (CMAD)

CMAD is a local Non-Governmental organization committed to enable communities ml Kenya to improve their livelihoods, live a dignified, healthy and prosperous life through capacity building, collaboration and service delivery.

We are currently seeking to fill the position of
 Executive Director who will be based at our head office in Rongo town, Nyanza Province

The Position

The position reports to the Board of Directors through the chairperson and is responsible for providing leadership for the organization in the delivery of its mission.

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Leading in Implementation, monitoring and evaluation of CMAD programmes as stipulated in the strategic plan and reporting progress regularly to the Board.

  • Ensuring implementation of sound management policies, procedures and systems for efficient and effective delivery of programs
  • Ensuring timely preparation of annual work plans and budgets for the Boards approval and preparing regular financial reports and updating the Board on key development in the organization
  • Providing support to the Board mi the development of related policies and strategic plans
  • Ensure the organization observes all necessary legal and statutory obligations
  • Building and protecting CMAD profile and relations with external parties
  • Having the overall responsibility for resource mobilization and management
  • Building effective relationship with the Board, Staff and CMAD stakeholders
Qualifications and Competency
  • A Masters degree in a relevant field, preferably Natural/Agricultural Sciences or Social Sciences
  • At least 5 years experience in research and development work
  • Demonstrated management skills
  • Experience in designing programmes and developing project proposals
  • Experience in implementing, monitoring and evaluating programs and projects
  • Extensive written and oral communication and presentation abilities
  • Computer Literacy
  • Willingness to travel and work under flexible working hours
  • Awareness or interest on key global issues
