Primary Purpose: To prepare, develop and analyze management accounting information for internal and external stakeholders; and to oversee responsible utilization of TechnoServe and donor resources.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the activities of the TNS Tanzania Finance Department for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management and donor reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements, and annual audits.
  • Responsible for all financial planning, forecasting, budgeting management and reporting for TechnoServe Tanzania programs
  • Produce Annual Country Budgets based on prudent revenue recognition, budgeting techniques and summarizing cost components based on various donor budgets.
  • Ensure grant financial compliance in the light of grant/ cooperative agreements.
  • Prepare Cash flow statements and manage the fund requests to HQ.
  • Monitor cash flow and work closely with TechnoServe HQ to manage shortfalls/surpluses
  • Prepare Single / Multi year financial proposals for RFPs, based on various program inputs & cost estimates.
  • Produce periodic program management reports for Program Management and Senior Management Team.
  • Analyze variances and explore potential problems with project financials, working closely with staff to forecast and address any variances. Assist in Management decisions based on the variance analysis.
  • Prepare financial reports on monthly basis for internal use and for external reports to donors as per the grant requirement.
  • Overall responsible for A/P, Process checks and Fund accounting code expenditure including accounting for travel advances, petty cash and purchase requisition processing.
  • Assure TNS’s income tax compliance and ensure the accurate and timely completion of all corporate income tax returns taking full advantage of alt favorable tax codes.
  • Establish and maintain systems and controls which verify the integrity of all systems
  • Participate in internal and external audits by providing auditors with accounting documents requested and provide explanations for aurHf nneries
  • Advise management about insurance coverage for protection against property losses and potential liabilities.
  • Other Finance responsibilities such as Maintain Asset/ equipment register, manage payroll and expense reimbursements for local staff
Qualifications:
  • CPA / MBA Finance,
  • Minimum of 8 years Post Qualification experience with at least 3 years in a senior position in Developmental organizations.
  • Good leadership and strategic orientation skills
  • Deep knowledge of best practices in financial management required
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Excellent knowledge of Excel, Access and PowerPoint required; Familiarity with Serenic Navigator preferred
  • Excellent verbal, analytical, organizational and written skills
  • Ability to mentor and coach the Finance team
  • Excellent analytical and management skills
  • Knowledge of key donor reporting requirements (USAID, World Bank) an advantage
  • Hands on Experience in not-to-profit accounting
  • Valid driving license
