Merlin is the only UK specialist Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) which responds worldwide, with vital healthcare and medical relief for vulnerable people affected by natural disasters, conflict and healthcare collapse.

Merlin Kenya programme is currently seeking to recruit highly skilled professionals with significant working experience to fill the above vacant positions based in Kisii.

The suitable candidate will be on a National grade D1 and will be paid a gross salary of between Ksh. 35.178/= dependant on relevant experience. The contract will be for 12 months with possibility of extension based on donor funding.

He/She will have overall responsibility for supporting Ministry of Public Health and Sanitation to implement community based malaria control activities. among other roles, to

  • Participate in all district, divisional and grass-root level planning of malaria intervention.
  • Strengthen the linkage between community level (level 1) and the formal health system in line with the MoH’s community strategy.
  • Organize and facilitate targeted community SBCC campaigns to influence behaviour change and enhance uptake of various malaria control interventions including consistent use of LLINs, prompt and effective treatment of malaria, IPTp and IRS.
  • In liaison with MOH counterparts, provide technical support to CHWs, CHEWs, Community Units, CBOs and women groups in drafting micro-plans and ensure successful implementation of the same.
  • Distribute and monitor utilization of ITNs, IEC materials, job aids and incentive commodities in line with the project strategies and ensure accountability on the same.
  • Assist the supported CBOs, CUs and CHWs to prepare monthly progress reports and ensure timely and accurately collection of project data.
  • Compile monthly and quarterly reports in the prescribed formats.
Minimum qualifications and requirements
  • A degree in Public or Community Health, Community Development or any other related field
  • Previous experience working with communities in malaria prevention
  • Excellent communication, computer, people, organization and facilitation skills
  • Ability to write comprehensive reports
