We are looking to recruit a highly experienced professional for the position of 
Head of Finance and Grants.

Job Purpose: Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Head of Finance and Grants will be a member of the senior management team and will primarily be responsible for strategic financial planning and directing the activities of the finance and grants functions.
The Head of Finance and Grants will lead on ensuring quality standards of the systems and tools Pact Kenya uses to deliver effective grants and financial services to its stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

Specifically, the Head of Finance and Grants will be responsible for the following:
  • Oversee all Programme financial planning, management and reporting functions
  • Ensure all financial activities of Pact Kenya are managed responsibly, appropriately and efficiently
  • Provide leadership and supervision of the finance and grants roles within the organization
  • Ensure that all grants documentation is maintained according to Pact Kenya’s standards and donor policies to the extent they can be fully audited with no adverse findings
  • Develop and maintain appropriate and functional grant making systems and procedures to ensure full compliance of all grants at all levels within the organization
  • Coordinate and oversee partner selection and proposal review processes and ensure proper implementation of the established processes for partner selection and funding negotiations including pre award assessments
  • Oversee preparation of finance and grants management reports
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of major donors’ rules and regulations and ensure implementation at all times
  • Coordinate financial organizational assessments of Pact Kenya partners, identified in collaboration with the capacity building specialists and Program’s capacity building officers.
  • Oversee the development of a tracking system to monitor and measure progress towards capacity building action plans
  • Coordinate, organize and deliver financial and grants management workshops for partners to provide guidance on good financial management and donor requirements

Education, Experience and Qualifications:

The minimum required academic and professional skills for the jobholder to perform successfully in their job are:
  • Masters Degree in Accounting, Finance or a related field
  • Must have attained Certified Public Accountant of Kenya (CPA-K) or ACCA qualifications
  • Ten years work experience managing financial administration of major donor grants and contracts
  • Highly proficient in MS Office, spreadsheets and database skills
  • Good experience working with ACCPAC or any enterprise-wide system
  • Working knowledge of regulations applicable to grants and financial management
  • Good analytical skills to successfully perform financial reviews and other quantitative analyses
  • Highly organized and able to develop and streamline systems for efficient conduct of day-to-day tasks
  • Familiarity with major donors’ auditing requirements and demonstrated ability to exercise basic financial oversight of grant programs
