Arab Monitoring Journalist: BBC Monitoring Nairobi Jobs

BBC Monitoring Nairobi office is responsible for gathering news and information from the mass media across Africa and the Middle East around the clock.

We are now seeking to engage experienced translators or journalists with fluent Arabic.The successful candidate will have an excellent command of Arabic and English, both written and
spoken.

Additional desirable languages include Somali, Amharic, Tigrigna and Oromo. Above all, the successful candidate will need to demonstrate a keen interest in news and international affairs, a passion for regional affairs (especially Middle East, Sudan, Somalia, and the rest of the Horn of Africa), good computer and keyboard skills, the ability to work under pressure as part of a team,
and a willingness to work shifts, including nights and weekends.
Short-listed candidates will be required to sit editorial, translation and general knowledge tests at our Karen offices. Successful candidates will later be invited for an interview. Salary is negotiable.
