Director of Finance and Administration Job Vacancy

A leading medical and health systems technical support institution is looking for a dynamic, driven and competent individual to fill the post of Director of Finance and Administration.
Reporting To: Country Director
Key Working Relationships:
 The Deputy Country Director, Regional Finance Advisor, Program Directors, Compliance and Audit Advisor and Vice-President/Managing Director, Africa
Primary Function:
 The main responsibility will be to oversee and accurate preparation of accounting and financial management information necessary for budget control, internal, statutory and donor requirements.

The function will also involve overseeing the day to day administration of the organization in regard to operations and human resource management. Further, this position will be responsible for providing management operations support to multiple programs.
Job Summary:

  • Provide leadership in the selling up of a robust financial management system with appropriate monitoring and reporting functions to international standards.
  • Ensuring donor grant reporting and compliance regulations are met through verification of accuracy of transactions and uniform application of policies, procedures and acceptable standards.
  • Implementation of prudent internal financial controls and checks
  • Preparation of quarterly! annual financial reports.
  • Compliance oversight of the grant awards and related sub-agreements.
  • Interprets USG and other donor regulations for local partners as sub-grantees.
  • Receive, analyze, adjust, and prepares various internal/external financial ledgers, schedules, exhibits and summaries along with any assigned databases utilized for financial reporting.
  • Examines and ensures integrity/reliability of the organisations accounting software. Work with the various Program Directors and other program staff members to identify potential ledger discrepancies between accounting and departmental records, providing statistical information to isolate these areas, recommending new procedures to prevent deviations or undesirable accounting trends.
  • Supervise the general administration of the organization including overseeing human resource, logistics management and procurement.
Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (accounting or finance option) or a Bachelors degree in Business Administration (finance or accounting).
  • Masters Degree in Business Administration will be highly advantageous
  • Professional qualification in accounting (ACCA, CPA-K or equivalent) is a MUST.
  • At least 7 years relevant post-qualification experience in a senior management position.
  • Experience with USG/Donor finance and compliance rules and regulations.
  • In-depth knowledge of computerized accounting and financial software applications
  • Demonstrable knowledge of USC financial rules and regulations
  • Experience supervising employees
Essential Skills required:
  • Ability to represent the organization at a senior level at meetings with donors and government.
  • Ability to analyze, compare and interpret facts and figures and make sound judgments based upon this knowledge.
  • Ability to work with financial systems like quick books, Sage or other automated systems.
  • Ability to clearly communicate results of work both orally and in writing to clients and management.
  • Ability to cooperate and work with others in order to foster and cultivate relationships in a multi-cultural setting.

  • Ability to carry out multiple assignments and plan accordingly in order to meet scheduled deadlines.
