Hospital Quality Assurance Coordinator Job Vacancy: Aga Khan Hospital, Mombasa

Aga Khan Hospital, Mombasa is an institution of Aga Khan Health Service, Kenya which is part of Aga Khan Development Network.
The 82 bed capacity hospital forms part of a network of health facilities in East Africa which include clinics, general hospitals and the Aga Khan University Hospital in Nairobi. It provides hospital care to the population of the Coast Province of Kenya and works with leading clinicians in the country in the management of complex and specialist cases.
The Aga Khan Hospital Mombasa has achieved acknowledgment of its quality by achieving ISO accreditation and is moving towards new standards of quality and clinical excellence.
The hospital is looking for a Hospital Quality Assurance Coordinator with emphasis on Laboratory Quality Assurance to manage Hospital Quality Improvement programs with emphasis in the laboratory quality.
Job Summary:
  • To lead in the overall hospital quality improvement programs with emphasis on laboratory department in their implementation of ISO 15189 standard
  • Organize external quality assurance activities within the Aga Khan Health network and with other partner institutions.
  • Coordinate maintainance of hospital equipment quality control documentation and schedule necessary maintenance, including weekly downloads of all data logging devices.
  • Coordinate all the internal calibration of necessary hospital equipment.
  • Maintain a record of corrective/preventive actions taken.
  • Conduct periodic statistics review in compliance with the continuous quality improvement and quality assurance procedures and generate reports for management.
Minimum Requirements:

  • A higher diploma or degree in medical laboratory technology or alternatively an advanced nursing qualification (BSc or MSc) from a recognized institution.
  • Registration/ Licensure with appropriate regulatory body is a requirement: Registration with the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technologists and Technicians Board or Nursing Council of Kenya respectively.
Additional Requirements:
  • Should have actively worked in a hospital quality assurance department or biological laboratory for at least three years as a quality assurance officer
  • He/she must have evidence of formal training in Quality Management and Quality Control.
  • Experience with ISO, JCIA and other quality improvement programs will be an added advantage.
  • He/she must have proven competency in Quality Control.
  • Ability to train others.
