ADRA Somalia Consultancy Opportunity

ADRA seeks to engage a qualified consultant to undertake the Training Workshop on Proposal Writing Skills for Non State Actors (NSAs) in Somaliland
Objectives
  • To enable NSAs acquire participatory skills for recognizing the need for and initiating community/household energy projects;
  • To build institutional capacity to design and implement community energy programs;
  • To equip participants with skills for identifying energy needs for communities and households.
  • To enable trainees understand factors that determine the choice of, and appropriateness of energy technology options available in order to assist communities to gain sustainable development.
  • To provide tools for generating ideas, proposal writing, designing and implementing community energy projects.
Expertise Required


The proposed consultant will be an individual(s) with extensive experience in proposal writing and fundraising for energy development programmes in Africa. Awareness of donor guidelines and requirements for proposals is a necessary skill for this assignment.
In addition, extensive knowledge of key donor priorities in the areas of energy, environment and development is required.
The consultant who will carry out the assignment should meet the following requirements:
  • Have a proven track record as a trainer in institutional capacity building
  • Have practical experience in energy sector development
  • Have excellent analytical and writing skills
  • Should have a good interpersonal skill and the ability to create appropriate pace of change in upgrading professional skills of trainees.
  • Graduate level achievement in development studies, economics, research and/or fundraising.
  • Minimum of 8 years professional experience in developing countries
  • Proven working experience in Post Conflict Transition (PCT) countries, including previous experience working in Somalia.
Other requirements:
  • Ability to live in shared facilities with limited amenities, a valid passport and own laptop
