Legal Officer, KEFRI Grade 7

Job Purpose

This position is responsible for implementing legal services in the Institute.

Requirements:
The duties and responsibilities of the officer will entail assisting in:

  • Preparing legal briefs for the initiation of legal action;
  • Preparing and interpreting legal opinions and offering guidance on legal requirements;
  •  Ensuring that key issues and needs of Institute are represented in policy fora in international regional and national conferences/meetings/workshops;
  • Preparing and filing of pleadings for and on behalf of the Institute;
  • Drafting and reviewing of legal instruments and policy documents on behalf of the Institute;
  • Drafting of contracts, agreements and other legal documents;
  • Preparing and circulating of Board and Committee Papers; and
  • Maintaining and updating the Register of Conflict of Interest.

Qualifications:



For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: –

  • Bachelor of Law degree from a recognized university;
  • Minimum K.C.S.E C+ (Plus) or its equivalent from a recognized institution; iii. Post graduate Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law;
  • Admitted as an Advocate of the High Court;
  • Current Practicing Certificate;
  • Member of the Law Society of Kenya in good standing;
  • Demonstrable good results in work performance;
  • Proficiency in computer applications; and
  • Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
