Job Title: PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTANT/ FINANCE OFFICER
Responsibilities
- Reviewing and updating subsidiary ledgers and reconciling
them to the general ledger;
- Ensuring supplier and customer accounts are reconciled on
monthly basis;
- Ensuring proper Management of cash through implementation of
controls;
- Ensuring tax compliance in all operations;
- Preparing annual financial statements;
- Liaising with external/internal auditor on audit matters and
acting on management letter;
- Developing, implementing, and maintaining accounting
policies, procedures, and controls;
- Coordinating the preparation of year-end closing financial
statements;
- Maintaining book of debtors, debt accounts and monitor
payments and update records and periodically reconcile their accounts;
- Reviewing individual or commercial customer files to identify
and select delinquent accounts for collection;
- Advising Management on creditors that need to be written off
as bad debts and or deal with liquidators and collection agencies; and
- Preparing annual budgets and project budgets.
Qualifications
For appointment to this
grade, an officer must have:
- At least eight (8) years working experience, three (3) years
of which must have been in supervisory role;
- Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Accounting/Finance), Finance,
Business Administration, Economics, or its equivalent qualification from a
recognized institution;
- Masters Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounts,
Economics or its equivalent qualification from a recognized institution;
- Member of the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of
Kenya (ICPAK) and in good standing;
- Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a
recognized institution.
- Proficiency in computer applications; and
- Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution
of Kenya.
