Role:
As
the Group Senior Manager, you will orchestrate inbound logistics, establish and
enforce global inventory standards, and optimize warehouse operations for
efficiency and cost-effectiveness across multiple markets. You’ll be the key
liaison with government regulators and stakeholders to ensure compliance with
customs and trade regulations.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Inbound Logistics
Management:
- Oversee all aspects of inbound logistics,
including coordination with clearing agents, customs authorities, and
government bodies.
- Execute and optimize duty remission
schemes, ensuring compliance with regulations and maximizing cost-saving
opportunities.
- Lead reconciliation efforts to ensure
accuracy and transparency in import-related financial transactions.
Global Standards Setting:
- Define and implement global standards for
warehousing and inventory management practices across our organization’s
operations in five African markets.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives
to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and transparency in inventory management
processes.
Efficiency and Cost Optimization:
- Identify opportunities to drive
efficiency improvements and cost reductions in warehouse operations across
multiple countries.
- Develop and implement strategies to
streamline inventory management processes and minimize operational
expenses.
Outbound Logistics Leadership:
- Establish and enforce global standards
for outbound logistics operations, including transportation management and
order fulfillment.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams
to ensure timely and accurate delivery of products to customers.
Team Leadership and Development:
- Provide leadership and guidance to the
warehouse team in Kenya, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration,
and continuous improvement.
- Mentor and develop team members to
enhance their skills and capabilities in warehousing and logistics
management.
Stakeholder Communication and
Reporting:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for
senior stakeholders, providing regular updates on key performance metrics,
strategic initiatives, and challenges.
- Communicate effectively with internal and
external stakeholders to address concerns, resolve issues, and drive
alignment on strategic objectives.
Compliance and Safety-
- Ensure compliance with health and safety
regulations and company policies in all warehouse and logistics activities
Third Party Management-
- Manage relationships with Third Party
providers and negotiate contracts to optimize costs and service levels.
Qualifications:
- Education: Degree
in business administration, logistics, supply chain management, or related
field.
- Experience: Minimum
7 years in warehousing, logistics, and supply chain management, with at
least 3 years in senior leadership.
- Expertise: Inbound
logistics in Kenya and Uganda, across the African continent preferred.
- Extensive experience in customs
clearance, duty remission schemes, and reconciliation processes
- Proven track record of success in setting
and implementing global standards for warehouse and inventory management
practices.
- Good knowledge of Kaizen and 6S
principles
- Certification: Logistics
and Supply Chain Management certification (e.g., CIPS, CPSP-K) is a plus.
- Skills: Strong
analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify
opportunities for process improvement and cost optimization.
- Leadership: Excellent
leadership and communication skills, with experience in leading
cross-functional teams.
- Technology: Proficiency
in warehouse management systems (WMS), Microsoft Excel, and other relevant
software.
