Job Purpose
Implements
Board resolutions and provides overall strategic leadership on day-to-day
management of the Corporation in its mandate of Procurement Agent for the
Government; oversees trading activities including sourcing and distribution of
commodities, logistics and warehousing services as well as other commercial
operations aimed at growing the Corporation’s profitability.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Chief Executive Officer of the Board;
- Secretary to the Board;
- Accounting Officer of the Board;
- Providing strategic leadership to the
staff of the Board;
- Ensuring the efficient, effective and
transparent management of trading operations in accordance with government
policy, regulations and laws;
- Maintaining effective collaboration and
partnerships with organs of Government and Government agencies,
international organizations, private sector and all stakeholders;
- Guiding in the development and
implementation of relevant policies and procedures that give the Board
positive perception and competitive advantage;
- Be responsible for day-to-day operations
of the Board;
- Fostering relationship with the relevant
Ministries, development partners and other stakeholders for the benefit of
the Board;
- Ensuring prudent management of all
available resources of the Board;
- Ensuring adherence to relevant national
and international conventions and treaties;
- Fostering conducive corporate culture
that promotes ethical practices and good governance in line with the
Constitution of Kenya 2010;
- Coordinating the preparation of the
budget and financial reports for consideration and approval by the Board;
- Ensuring compliance with Legal,
Regulatory, Government policies, guidelines and directives.
Recognized qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in any of the following
fields: – Business Administration, Business Management, Commerce,
Accounts, Finance, Economics, or equivalent qualification from a
recognized Institution;
- Masters Degree in any of the following
fields: – Strategic Management, Finance, Economics, or any other relevant
social science or equivalent qualification from a recognized Institution;
- Fifteen (15) years’ relevant work
experience, five (5) of which must be at a Senior Management role;
- Member of a relevant professional body in
good standing;
- Certificate of Leadership in a course
lasting not less than four (4) weeks from a recognized institution;
- Proficiency in computer application
skills;
- Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six
of the Constitution.
