Telecommunication Engineer

REF – KTTC/TE/06/20
The Kenya Technical Trainers College seeks to appoint a suitable candidate to the position of a Telecommunication Engineering Technician III.
Purpose of the Job:
  • This position is responsible in the provision of technical support to the lecturers in the department, contributing to students’ learning experience by assisting with the preparation of equipment and machinery for practical work to promote understanding of course work and innovation.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Job:
  • Provide support to trainers and trainees in solving technical problems and practicals
  • Maintain workshop inventories by receiving, issuing tools and materials in the workshop and ensure sufficient materials in the workshop
  •  Observe and ensure health and safety procedures are practiced and enforced and accidents reported to the section head
  •  Requisition for consumables to ensure they are replenished in a timely manner and organise in a way that they are easily traced
  •  Prepare maintenance schedule for all the workshop equipment for approval by section head and maintain requisite records on servicing schedule on various equipment and machinery to ensure the schedule is adhered to.
  • Advise the section head on the budgeting requirement of the workshop to ensure that all the requirements of the workshop are budgeted for
  • Segregate non-functional equipment and machinery to promote safety in the workshop.
  •  Provide procurement specifications for workshop equipment to be purchased to ensure purchase of the correct equipment/machinery
  • Report breakdown of machinery and equipment to the head of the section to advise on replacement needs
  • Promote general cleanliness of the workshop and equipment and provide a conducive environment for trainings and practicals
 Qualifications Knowledge and Skills:
  • Minimum level of academic qualifications required to perform effectively in the role:
    • Diploma in Telecommunication Engineering
      or
    • Higher Diploma in Telecommunication Engineering plus two (2) years experience in telecommunication laboratory
    • Certificate in Telecommunication Engineering will have an added advantage.

Personal Secretary

REF – KTTC/PS/04/20
The Kenya Technical Trainers College seeks to appoint a suitable candidate to the position of a Personal Secretary II.
Purpose of the Job:
  • The purpose of this job is to provide secretarial and administrative support in the administrative office/ department to ensure smooth running of the office.
Duties and Responsibilities of the Job:
  • Record dictation in shorthand and transcribe it into a written comprehensive form
  • Type from draft and manuscripts as required to ensure timely communication of information
  • Handle incoming and outgoing telephone calls to ensure timely communication passed on to the relevant office
  •  Operate office equipment in printing and photocopying documents to provide administrative assistance to the institution
  • Prepare responses to simple routine correspondences in a timely manner
  • Assist the head of department in preparation of presentations materials and other documentations for internal and external circulation
  •  Organise administration records and correspondences to ensure easy accessibility to the documentation/ information whenever required
  • Classify documents and materials to ensure security and confidentiality of office records
  • Receive and attend to visitors and clients in a professional and courteous manner and direct them to the respective offices.
  •  Monitor cleanliness of the office and ensure that the office is well-managed to promote a good working environment.

Estate Management Officer

The Kenya Technical Trainers College seeks to appoint a suitable candidate to the position of an Estates Management Officer.
Direct Reports:
  • Deputy Estates Officer
Indirect Reports:
  • Head Cleaner
  •  Head grounds man
  •  Maintenance staffs
 Purpose of the Job:
  • This position is responsible for overseeing general maintenance of College facilities allocation of office space infrastructure and general College design and layout to ensure conducive and optimal utilization of College facilities.
Managerial Responsibilities of the Job:
  • Develop and implement the room allocation policy for the College to maximize utilization of facilities.
  • Develop work plans, schedules and budget for projects to ensure the department deliverables are achieved.
  • Conduct performance appraisal for the departmental staff to enhance productivity in the department and realization of set goals.
  • Advises the management on matters related to maintenance management to facilitate achievement of College strategy.
  • Prepares a budget for the department and submits for approval to facilitate smooth operation of the department.
  • Oversee repairs of facilities and develops health and safety reports to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
  •  Maintains an accurate record for all repair works and maintenance of all machines and equipment for accountability and planning purposes.
Operational Responsibilities:
  • Allocates tasks on a daily basis to departmental staff to maximize the departmental human capital and facilitate completion of projects.
  • Supervises daily operation and performance of staff in the department to ensure achievement of deliverables.
  • Raise requisitions to the procurement department for maintenance work materials needed to provide necessarily support for subordinates and ensure seamless delivery of work.
  •  Liaise with internal heads of sections for maintenance work within the College to inform flow of work and project schedules for the departmental personnel.
  • Chair daily meetings and briefs with the direct reports to get updates on operations progress and provide guidance where necessary.
  • Handle minor disagreement within the department such as those arising from interpersonal disputes and allocation of resources to enhance team cohesiveness.
  •  Authorize leave schedules for the staff to enhance balanced availability of staff.
  •  Ensuring compliance to health and safety procedures by all staff under his/her supervisions to eliminate and minimize work related risks.
