Technical
Services Department
Three

The Role:
Reporting
to the Managing Director, the Manager – Technical Services will be responsible
for facilitating high quality maintenance of radio and television broadcasts,
broadcast equipment/systems and related facilities owned or operated by KBC;
supporting the daily production and operations of the KBC radio and television
network, including audio and video production, staff support and training,
on-air studio operations and automation systems; and also overseeing the
strategic direction of broadcast technologies and systems, their acquisition,
deployment, use and post-implementation.
Responsibilities
·
Management of KBC broadcast and
technical services resources; planning for their acquisition, implementation,
operation and optimal utilization
·
Overseeing the strategic development
and improvement of broadcasting systems, as well as their commissioning,
maintenance and/or decommissioning
·
Planning and scheduling of all
activities in Technical Services Department and ensuring they are promptly
completed within specified deadlines and budgets
·
Preparation and approval of technical
services specifications to be used in the procurement of the required technical
engineering facilities
·
Ensuring efficient, effective and
timely implementation of technical engineering projects in the Department
·
Development, implementation and
review of technical services policies, procedures, standards and work plans
·
Conducting staff performance
appraisals and coordinating continuous improvement initiatives in the
Department
·
Responsible for the overall
discipline and performance of staff in the Department
·
Preparing budgets for Technical
Services Department
·
Monitoring and optimizing the
performance of technical engineering facilities.
Qualifications
·
Bachelor of Science degree in Telecommunication,
Electrical / Electronics Engineering, Broadcast Engineering or its equivalent
from a recognized institution
·
Master’s degree in the relevant field
will be an added advantage
·
Must be a registered member of the
Engineers Registration Board of Kenya or any other recognized Engineering Body
at the level of Professional Engineer or Graduate Engineer.
·
At least ten (10) years practical
experience in a broadcasting/media environment
·
Must be conversant with media
legislation, digital broadcast, multimedia /web services, convergence of
technologies and technological trends in the broadcasting industry
·
Must have worked in a managerial
position for at least three (3) years while overseeing the operations of key
systems in a similar organization
·
Demonstrable high standard of
professional competence and requisite administrative ability required for
direction and coordination of planning, development and maintenance of
engineering technical facilities
·
Good communication and interpersonal
skills

·
Must be computer literate.

Kenya

(Cap. 221) and operating under the Ministry of Information, Communications and
Technology.

Corporation wishes to fill the following vacant position with dynamic,

The Role:
Reporting
to the Managing Director, the TV Programmes Manager will be responsible for
developing and managing suitable program content for the Corporation’s
Television channels by making sure that programming is undertaken in line with
the Corporation’s public and commercial broadcasting mandate in order to
enhance effective competition in the market niche.
In
addition, he/she will be responsible for the day to day running of KBC TV
Channels with an emphasis on growing audiences while repositioning KBC to
compete effectively while ensuring that it remains steadfast to its role as a
Public Broadcaster.
Responsibilities
·
Planning, co-coordinating and
controlling the production and operation of TV channels
·
Initiation, formulation and
implementation of Television Programme policies.
·
Initiation, interpretation and
implementation of National Policies and Commercials through Television
Programmes
·
Developing attractive program
schedules to ensure growth in audience and maintaining required high quality
services
·
Consistent identification of
communication solutions, needs and opportunities for the TV channels
·
Working with local and international
partners to provide a wide spectrum of programming and arranging for
co-production with other organizations
·
Driving growth through acquisition of
new programs and retention of existing programs by implementing effective
retention plans
·
Managing the implementation of all
promotional/programming activities of the TV channels
·
Participating in high level
engagement/presentation at Board and Management level to foster good relations
and aid in faster decision making on schedule proposed
·
Preparing reports on statistical
indicators on the performance of the TV channels as required
·
Managing, directing and evaluating
the performance of a team of producers, programmers and designers to follow
through the departmental strategy
·
Advising the Corporation on all
Television Programme matters.
Qualifications
·
Bachelor of Arts degree in
Communication, Broadcast Journalism, Social Sciences or its equivalent from a
recognized institution
·
Master’s degree in the relevant field
will be an added advantage.
·
Diploma in TV Production, Mass
Communication or Broadcast Journalism.
·
Ten (10) years working experience in
a broadcasting/media environment
·
Must have served in a managerial
position in TV production/programming for three (3) or served as a Sectional
Head or its equivalent for at least seven (7) years in a reputable
broadcasting/ media organization
·
Must be conversant with contemporary
and future trends and dynamics of broadcast media industry
·
Good leadership, managerial and
interpersonal skills
·
High integrity and ability to work
without close supervision
·
Must be computer literate.
Credit Control Manager

The Role
While reporting
to the Finance and Administration Manager, the Credit Control Manager will be
responsible for developing and executing the Corporation’s credit management,
debt recovery and debt collection efforts.
Specific Terms

Responsibilities
·
Setting up an effective credit
control system with clear terms and conditions of the receivable and payable
balances
·
Formulating and /or reviewing credit
policy
·
Ensuring Corporation’s debts are
settled and recovered on time and efficiently.
·
Ensuring that all invoices are raised
on time that invoices have the relevant attachments and are dispatched in an
appropriate manner.
·
Maintaining accurate and up to date
records of all debtors
·
Coordinating daily execution of debt
follow ups and recovery
·
Responsible for negotiating
re-payment plans whenever necessary
·
Identify changes in payment patterns
and propose action to avert indebtedness
·
Formulating guidelines on the
management of bad and doubtful debts
·
Managing the credit rating process of
customers requiring credit facilities and give recommendations,
·
Handling disputed bills within the
agreed terms resolving problems in relation to invoicing /payments
·
Compiling and making recommendations
to the Management bad and doubtful debt provision and write-offs
·
Ensuring that all transactions are
compliant with the Corporation’s policies
Qualifications
Educational Requirements
·
Bachelor’s Degree in Commerce,
Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or Economics from a recognized
University
·
A Master’s degree (MBA / MSc in
Finance /Accounting or its equivalent) from a recognized University will be an
added advantage.
Professional Requirements
·
CPA (K) or any other recognized
equivalent professional qualification
·
Computer proficiency
·
Must be a registered member of ICPAK
Minimum Experience
·
At least seven (7) years working
experience with at least three (3) years as Accounts Controller, Chief
Accountant / Chief Revenue Officer or a higher position than Chief Accountant /
Chief Revenue Officer in a large busy organization.
·
Must show evidence of experience in
preparing financial statements, management accounts, budgets and accounts
reconciliations.
