The African Population and Health
Research Center (APHRC) is an international non-profit, non-governmental
organization that carries out high quality policy relevant research on
population, education and health issues facing sub-Saharan Africa.
APHRC seeks to recruit 4
qualitative field interviewers for a fecal waste management project being implemented in
Nakuru.
Data collection will be for a period
of approximately four weeks.
Key Responsibilities
·
Conduct in-depth interviews and focus
group discussions;
·
Record daily field notes with details
of data collection activities undertaken and emerging questions or lessons from
the field;
·
Assemble all data (audio recordings,
transcripts, typed notes, etc.) into an organized package for sharing with the
project lead;
·
Assist in compiling progress reports
and final report detailing the qualitative data collection process, and main
observations;
·
Timely reporting of project related
issues for quick and effective troubleshooting;
·
Transcription of qualitative
interviews.
Qualifications and Experience
·
Diploma in a social science
discipline;
·
Previous experience collecting
qualitative data in Nakuru;
·
Prior experience in Water, Sanitation
and Hygiene (WASH) is an added advantage;
·
Ability to organize individual
interview and focus group discussions;
·
Willingness to multi-task, and to
work collaboratively as part of a team; and
·
Fluency in English and Swahili
