Accordingly, the Council is looking for an experienced and vibrant professional to fill the following position:
Financial Controller (1 Post)
Grade E3
Reporting to the Principal, the incumbent will be responsible to provide leadership in the division, sound management of finances and general supervision of Accounts, Operation Control and Credit Control.
Roles and Responsibilities
·         Co-ordination and preparation of the College’s annual recurrent and capital budgets for presentation to the College Council and National Treasury within the stipulated time;
·         Preparation of annual accounts for the College for presentation to the College Council within the stipulated time;
·         Liaison with the Auditor General Corporations on audit of the College accounts in line with the State Corporations Act;
·         Liaison with the various Government and Non-governmental organisations in connection with the costing, billing and receiving of international students’ fees;
·         Provide support and guidance to the Management team in strategically planning the financial requirements of the institution and in the management of their departmental budgets;
·         Maintain and ensure accurate financial reports on a timely basis;
·         Management and maintenance of assets register;
·         Advisory role to the Council on financial issues;
·         Providing financial leadership, risk management, reviewing financial performance and ensuring action plans are in place to meet College commitments;
·         Providing strategic advice with regards to business initiatives and projects and assisting in the execution of business strategies;
·         Ensuring timely and accurate reporting on costs/revenue by cost centre and ensuring regular updating of forecasts in the light of changes in costs and revenue;
·         Producing financial statements, reports and analysis to aid in decision making and implementing financial decisions.
Skills and Attributes
·         Masters degree in Accounting and/or Financial Management, Finance or related field from a recognized university, with seven (7) years relevant working experience, three (3) of which must be at senior management level;
·         CPA (K), ACCA or equivalent
·         A member of good standing with the Institute of Chartered Public Accountants (ICPAK);
·         Working experience with ERPs.

Human Resources Manager

Reporting to the Principal, the Human Resources Manager will be responsible for planning, co-ordinating and implementing the human resource and administration policies, strategies, systems and processes aligned to the College objectives.
Roles and Responsibilities
·         Ensuring correct interpretation and implementation of human resource policies, rules and regulations, including those related to pensions, salaries, labour laws and other statutes relating to human resource;
·         Conduct a regular and comprehensive functional review and staff audit and provide a strategic direction on its appropriateness;
·         Ensure the development of appropriate administration structures to ensure optimum utilisation of staff;
·         Oversee the implementation of an effective human resource management information system for monitoring, tracking and evaluating employees activities;
·         Benefits administration as well as employee relations aimed at staff morale, increasing productivity and enhancing organisational effectiveness;
·         Lead and facilitate change management and implement leadership, management and staff development programmes for efficient service delivery;
·         Maintain manpower, succession and development plans for talent and critical staff to support business plans;
·         Advising on proper recruitment, deployment, staff performance and career progression;
·         Making appropriate recommendations and proposals on human resource planning and succession management;
·         Enforcing safety and security procedures and measures;

Skills and Attributes
·         Masters degree in Human Resource or Business with a specialization in human resource from a recognised university in Kenya;

General Manager, Utalii Hotel

Reporting to the Principal, the General Manager, Utalii Hotel shall be responsible for achieving optimal guest satisfaction and a good working environment to attain all set objectives.
Roles and Responsibilities
·         Creating and operating environment that assures consistent guest satisfaction;
·         Monitoring the performance of the hotel through verification and analysis of guest satisfaction systems and financial reports;
·         Maintaining product and service quality standards by conducting ongoing evaluations and investigating complaints;
·         Developing accurate and aggressive long and short-range financial objectives consistent with the College’s mission statement;
·         Preparing financial reports for management that clearly explains operational effectiveness, trends and variances;
·         Establishing and maintaining a pro-active human resource function to ensure employee motivation, training and development, wage and benefits administration and compliance with established labour regulations;
·         Executing marketing, sales and operational activities, producing results that meet or exceed the hotel’s business plan;
·         Ensuring good safety practices of employees and guests, assisting in the maintenance of proper emergency and security procedures;
·         Establishing and maintaining applicable preventive maintenance programmes to protect the physical assets of the hotel;
Skills and Attributes
·         Bachelors degree in Hospitality, Marketing or any business related field from a university recognised in Kenya;
·         A Diploma in Hotel Management;
·         Minimum seven (7) years relevant working experience, three (3) of which must be at senior management level;
·         Membership in a professional body.
·         Demonstrated success in operating at least a four-star hotel with a minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in a Hotel/Lodge/Resort;
·         In-depth experience in Food & Beverage and Rooms;
·         Must be proficient in all areas of Hotel operations;
·         Hands-on leadership style and must be entrepreneurial, independent thinking and self-starter with a focus to achieving exceptional results.


Chief Supplies Officer

The Chief Supplies Officer will report to the Deputy Principal and will be responsible for effective and efficient management of procurement services for the College, Utalii Hotel and College projects.
Roles and Responsibilities
·         Planning, implementing and reviewing the College’s annual Procurement Plan
·         Working with College Management and Departmental Heads in developing and reviewing Divisional and Departmental Plans;
·         Ensuring user departments adhere to Procurement Plans;
·         Initialling and facilitating processes to ensure timely delivery of quality goods, works and services;
·         Ensuring that the college’s procurement plans are in line with the financial budgets;
·         Ensuring that all College’s procurement and disposal are conducted in accordance with the relevant procurement legislation, regulations and procedures;
·         Preparing professional opinion for the Principal on the procurement or asset disposal proceedings;
·         Managing the relationship between the suppliers and the College;
·         Supervision and appraisal of staff in the procurement department.
Skills and Attributes
·         Bachelor degree in Commerce or Economics or Supplies and Procurement or its equivalent with at least seven (7) years working experience, three (3) of which must be at senior level in a busy procurement department in a reputable organization (a Masters degree in the relevant area will have an added advantage);
·         A Diploma in Purchasing and Supplies Management or its equivalent;
·         Member of relevant professional body with good standing;
·         Experience in hospitality industry will be an added advantage;
·         Sound knowledge of Public procurement legislation, regulations and procedures

Chief Legal Officer & Corporation Secretary

Reporting to the Principal, the Chief Legal Officer & Corporation Secretary will be responsible for providing legal counsel to the College and will provide professional legal advice, so as to ensure legal compliance, advice on dispute prevention and resolution and support legal reform initiatives.
He/she will also be responsible for College Council matters.
Roles and Responsibilities
·         Provide a dependable reference point to the College Council and the Management on policy changes by monitoring the operating environment and offer a legal advisory service that is premised on a platform that is well researched, reasoned and timely;
·         Ensure compliance with legislative instruments with regard to contracting, the constitutional framework on the laws setting up the College, dispute resolution and petitions and oversee the provision of legal services to the College in its legal relations, employment, procurement, financial management and projects;
·         Develop preventive legal strategies to forestall avoidable disputes, controversies and litigation;
·         Ensure that all legal disputes concerning the College are professionally resolved including prosecution and/or defence of the College’s cases;
·         Advise the Principal and Management in the outsourcing of legal work and other contracted services and ensure that the College obtains value for money;
·         Providing legal advisory services to the Management and the Board to ensure statutory compliance with existing law and regulatory requirements;
·         Providing Corporation secretarial services to the Board, and to the Management committees of the College;
·         Ensure effective and efficient consolidation and dispatch of Council agenda;
·         Attending Council meetings and advising on legal requirements;
·         Disseminate the decisions of the Council to relevant Divisional heads for implementation;
·         Inducting new Council members and ensuring preservation of records for all Council’s business;
·         Developing and carrying out reviews of the code of conduct and manual for the Council.
Skills and Attributes
·         Bachelor of Law (LLB) from a university recognized in Kenya with at least seven (7) years working experience, three (3) of which must be at a senior level in a busy and reputable organisation [those in possession of a
·         Masters degree (LLM) will have an added advantage];
·         Must be an Advocate of the High Court of Kenya;
·         A member of good standing with the Law Society of Kenya (LSK);
·         Certified Public Secretary (CPSK).

Sales and Marketing Manager, Utalii Hotel

Reporting to the Deputy General Manager of Utalii Hotel, the Sales and Marketing Manager will be responsible for maximizing the hotel’s revenues by developing programs to increase occupancy and make profitable use of its accommodation, meeting and leisure facilities.
He/she will also be expected to manage the hotel as a brand.
Roles and Responsibilities
·         Formulating and implementing sound marketing plans, policies, procedures and marketing strategies;
·         Organise marketing campaigns to promote product/brand awareness and improve customer loyalty and traffic;
·         Oversee designing, development and implementation of new products and services;
·         Innovate new products to attract clients;
·         Establish and maintain good corporate relations and implement customer care management programmes;
·         Monitor and advise on the marketing trends and competition through marketing intelligence survey;
·         Preparing and presenting marketing reports;
·         Review comments from customers on products and services and take corrective action;

Laboratory Technologist

Reporting to the Clinical Officer, the Laboratory Technologist will assist in maintain the Health and wellbeing of Staff and Students
Roles and Responsibilities
·         Discharge of Laboratory investigative services to patients /Client by applying the laid down standard operation.
·         Planning and budgeting for laboratory commodities.
·         Ordering, receiving and storing laboratory requests and chemicals and maintaining the stocks of the same to inventory
·         Compiling and submitting laboratory reports.
·         Any other responsibility that may be assigned by the supervisor.
Skills and Attributes
·         Must be in possession of a Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology from a recognized Institution.
·         Must hold a practicing license with KMLTTB.
·         Higher Diploma in Laboratory Sciences (Haemotology) will have an added advantage
·         Work experience for over five (5) years in a busy hospital and over five (5) years as the in-charge
·         Good communication skills
·         Team player, honest and reliable
·         Able to maintain confidentiality
Chapter Six Requirements
