recruit a:
Position title: Programme
Coordinator
Reports to: Programme
Manager Africa Rift Lakes (ARL)
Supervises: Station staff (programme & operations)

Location: Naivasha, Kenya
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Provide
strategic leadership and support collaborative partnership engagements in
Naivasha landscape in consultation with the ARL Manager;
- Responsible for
program growth and development (development of proposals, resource
mobilization, implementation and sustainability of current initiatives in
the Lake Naivasha landscape)
- Jointly with
the ARL Program Manager, support the development of short and long term
plans for programs, monitor progress, assure adherence and evaluate
performance to meet desired outcomes;
- Supervise line
staff by articulating expectations, displaying model behaviour,
maintaining open lines of communication and being clear about roles and
relationships;
- Lead in the
management of fiscal operations including budget development,
modifications, tracking expenditures and continually monitor the program’s
financial health and make recommendations;
- Ensure
effective and efficient implementation of programs in the Lake Naivasha
landscape including the development of annual workplans and budgets ;
- Lead the
preparation of technical and financial reports;
- Ensure
accountability and transparency within the Programme;
- Assist with the
development communications strategies to support program goals and
increase community awareness within the basin to promote WWF Kenya brand;
- Support the
development of content to assist the WWF communication unit in the
compilation of news and the production of conservation communication
materials and bulletins for the ARL landscape;
- Under the
direction of ARL Programme Manager provide support where necessary to the
WWF Kenya and other ARL programme activities;
- Perform any
other duties as may be assigned;
Qualification and Experience
- An advanced
University degree in a relevant field: Natural Resource Management,
Environment Sciences, Development Studies, Conservation Biology or any
related relevant field;
- At least 6
years of experience in conservation, natural resource management,
environmental science / forest / freshwater / hydrology / terrestrial
ecology or related field.
- At least 3
years progressive management experience
Key Skills / Competencies
- Good
interpersonal skills with the ability to network and to develop and
maintain strong relationships at all levels – in particular private and
public sector, CSOs and CBOs as well as other conservation organizations
- Organizational
and communication skills – good command on English written and spoken;
ability to organize meetings at high levels and bring together large
groups to discuss technical issues will be required
- Program
development skills
- Demonstrated
ability for strategic thinking, conceptualization and planning of
strategic initiatives within the context of conservation, natural resource
management, international development, and/or other related fields and
with ability to manage multiple projects. Problem solving and conflict
management skills
- Leadership and
people management skills – ability to oversee and work with external
consultants/experts
- Technical
report writing skills
- Project
management skills
- Financial
management skills
- Demonstrated
team player and willingness to learn and share
- Knowledge or
experience in monitoring, evaluation and learning will be an added
advantage

Working Relationships
Internal – interacts with
Africa Rift Lakes Manager, WWF Kenya, Country Conservation Director, CEO, Heads
of Department and programmes and staff on a regular basis, and may also
interact with ROA, WWF International, and other WWF Network staff.
External – Interacts with programme partners, local, regional and national governmental institutions, nongovernmental organisations, academic institutions, the media, donors, specialists / consultants, and other stakeholders, in collaboration with the WWF Kenya Country Director.
