Business Development Officer - PSP & Small Sum Giving
 
(To be based in Nairobi)
 
WWF Kenya has developed a Financial Sustainability Plan (FSP) which will guide our fundraising effort towards the delivery of WWF Kenya’s conservation objectives.

WWF Kenya would therefore like to recruit a hands-on and experienced individual, as a member of the Business Development and Communication unit to support the launch, roll out and implementation of a successful Small-Sum Giving programme. 

Major Function: The holder of the position shall provide technical support in the implementation of
WWF Kenya’s small sum giving fundraising and related supporter marketing initiatives.

They will be expected to apply their in-depth expertise in marketing and communications towards the development of the programme, campaign materials, launch and day to day execution of the programme
Roles and Responsibilities
  • Conduct periodic Small sum giving Fundraising market research and intelligence both in the local market arena to inform the plans, audience, channel, offer and related benchmarking of new product propositions.
  • Support in the implementation of and set-up plan of small sum supporter acquisition, activation and retention (supporter journey) programme for WWF Kenya.
  • Support the identification, establishment and roll out of WWF Kenya’s small sum giving systems (donation such as MPESA, Online, and Check-Off), channels (F2F, DRTV, Direct Marketing etc.), and CRM data bases Implement effective small sum giving fundraising strategies and actions for WWF Kenya targeting the local market
  • Ensure proficient database management, gift processing, development and fulfilment of donor benefits, gift recognition, donor correspondence, and mailings.
  • Support in the coordination of course related events and campaign logistics to ensure an exceptional donor experience, with a focus on cultivation, activation, sign-ups and stewardship.
  • Support in the efficient and smooth running of the small sum giving fundraising and funding infrastructure and systems aimed at ensuring effective supporter care and communication, retention, and upgrade program.
  • Participate in and support the coordination of local supporter/sponsor visits to WWF Kenya programme/project sites for purposes of showcasing WWF Kenya’s conservation programmes and their impact.
  • Support in the promotion of WWF Kenya brand and visibility through intensive internal and external communications and public relations.
  • In collaboration with the BD Manager and the communications unit, support in the design and develop small sum giving fundraising promotional materials for brand awareness and visibility creation.
  • In collaboration with Business Development and Communication, support in the identification, coordination and management of any contracted individual giving Fundraising Agencies and other service providers for delivery of agreed KPIs.
Key Qualifications
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Development Studies, Social Sciences or its equivalent from a recognized University, a Master’s Degree is desirable.
  • Satisfactorily served as fundraising/ resource mobilization officer or a comparable position with similar responsibilities in like-minded organizations for a minimum period of five (5) years.
  • Demonstrated in-depth understanding of programming issues, resource mobilization including supporter marketing, product development, operational marketing channels, supporter acquisition and retention, care and communication.
  • IT and data management qualifications.
  • Demonstrable experience of raising funds from local sponsors and supporters.
  • Strong understanding of project management.
Key Competencies
  • Good conceptual, analytical, presentation and writing skills.
  • Ability to influence and negotiate at different levels including with external suppliers.
  • Experience of managing small sum giving and supporter relationships;
  • Understanding of different donor requirements and management of donor relationships, care and communication.
  • Excellent communications, public relations and marketing skills.
  • High level of IT proficiency in use of MS Word, Excel, Access, Power-point, and e-mail.

Project Technical Assistant
 
(To be based in Nairobi, with frequent travels to project areas)
 
To ensure the implementation to the highest standards of the programme objectives in line with WWF Kenya Species Conservation Action Plan and WWF Kenya Strategic Plan.

Major Duties Roles and Responsibilities
  • Work with KWS & Narok County Government rangers to ensure project activities outlined in the action plans are implemented;
  • Support KWS to ensure species monitoring in Tsavo East Rhino Sanctuary, with emphasis on rhinos, elephants and lions, is done effectively and efficiently by assisting in and, where relevant, participating in the learning and capacity building of the Sanctuary species monitoring team;
  • Support Maasai Mara National Reserve rangers to effectively using the technology installed for wildlife and law enforcement monitoring and generate regular reports;
  • Assist the Programme Coordinator in assessing effectiveness of species monitoring technologies and interventions in use in the project areas;
  • Assist the Programme Coordinator in planning and developing specific research programs including species databases in line with the Species Conservation Action Plan;
  • Assist in day to day coordination and follow-up of various project activities; including drafting of technical progress reports;
  • Participates in knowledge management through conservation research, publication and dissemination of scientific research including representing WWF Kenya in national species conservation platforms;
  • Facilitate cross-border initiatives where relevant, in consultation with the Programme Coordinator;
  • Organize meetings related to Species project implementation and handle the administrative aspects of visits and/or meetings/workshops as requested by the Species Programme staff and partners;
  • Support the development of communication materials for WWF Communications Office;
  • Assist the Species Programme staff in follow up of payments, financial reports for projects;
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Programme Coordinator
Qualifications
  • A minimum of a university degree in natural resource management, environmental science, marine science / forest / freshwater / terrestrial ecology or related field.

Digital Marketing Officer 

(To be based in Nairobi)
 
The role holder will oversee the maintenance, organisation and functionalities of the WWF- Kenya website and company intranet; as well as own the WWF Digital Communications strategy and be responsible for its formulation and execution. 

They will also ensure the continuous management of the WWF-Kenya online communication platforms (social media mechanisms being key) to approved WWF-Kenya standards.



Roles and Responsibilities
  • Advise the company on strategic online approaches to improve on the company’s brand and image.
  • Perform total quality management of the sites including aesthetics consistency, evaluation of links and usability.
  • Responsible for planning, executing and evaluating e-marketing communications to support WWF communication and fundraising objectives.
  • Coordinate Web advertising campaigns.
  • Oversee search engine optimization and assist with content development.
  • Plan and implement segmented tracking through e-marketing campaigns and digital communication campaigns;
  • Advise on web application tools for the effective running of WWF Intranet and the corporate website;
  • Ensure regular and timely updates on all assigned platforms; to ensure information is relevant and up to date;
  • Support key departments in addition to develop and infuse their digital strategies.
  • Supervise technical support and maintenance of the Intranet/corporate sites.
  • Evaluate visitor trends and traffic sources to the corporate website;
  • Track, compile and analyze website usage.
  • Develop website performance metrics and ensure effective maintenance of sites within their mandate.
  • Work in close partnership with the Communications team to develop and disseminate communications materials such as blogs, newsletters, annual reports and bulletin.

Position title:Programme Coordinator

Location: Naivasha, Kenya
 
Major function: To provide strategic leadership and sustainability of the Lake Naivasha Malewa landscape programme in line with the WWF Kenya Strategic Plan and within the framework of the African Rift Lakes (ARL) priority landscape.
 

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Provide strategic leadership and support collaborative partnership engagements in Naivasha landscape in consultation with the ARL Manager;
  • Responsible for program growth and development (development of proposals, resource mobilization, implementation and sustainability of current initiatives in the Lake Naivasha landscape)
  • Jointly with the ARL Program Manager, support the development of short and long term plans for programs, monitor progress, assure adherence and evaluate performance to meet desired outcomes;
  • Supervise line staff by articulating expectations, displaying model behaviour, maintaining open lines of communication and being clear about roles and relationships;
  • Lead in the management of fiscal operations including budget development, modifications, tracking expenditures and continually monitor the program’s financial health and make recommendations;
  • Ensure effective and efficient implementation of programs in the Lake Naivasha landscape including the development of annual workplans and budgets ;
  • Lead the preparation of technical and financial reports;
  • Ensure accountability and transparency within the Programme;
  • Assist with the development communications strategies to support program goals and increase community awareness within the basin to promote WWF Kenya brand;
  • Support the development of content to assist the WWF communication unit in the compilation of news and the production of conservation communication materials and bulletins for the ARL landscape;
  • Under the direction of ARL Programme Manager provide support where necessary to the WWF Kenya and other ARL programme activities;
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned;
Qualification and Experience
  • An advanced University degree in a relevant field: Natural Resource Management, Environment Sciences, Development Studies, Conservation Biology or any related relevant field;
  • At least 6 years of experience in conservation, natural resource management, environmental science / forest / freshwater / hydrology / terrestrial ecology or related field.
  • At least 3 years progressive management experience
Key Skills / Competencies
  • Good interpersonal skills with the ability to network and to develop and maintain strong relationships at all levels – in particular private and public sector, CSOs and CBOs as well as other conservation organizations
  • Organizational and communication skills – good command on English written and spoken; ability to organize meetings at high levels and bring together large groups to discuss technical issues will be required

  • Demonstrated ability for strategic thinking, conceptualization and planning of strategic initiatives within the context of conservation, natural resource management, international development, and/or other related fields and with ability to manage multiple projects. Working Relationships
 
Internal – interacts with Africa Rift Lakes Manager, WWF Kenya, Country Conservation Director, CEO, Heads of Department and programmes and staff on a regular basis, and may also interact with ROA, WWF International, and other WWF Network staff.

External – Interacts with programme partners, local, regional and national governmental institutions, nongovernmental organisations, academic institutions, the media, donors, specialists / consultants, and other stakeholders, in collaboration with the WWF Kenya Country Director.
