Loan Officer Job in Kenya

Duma Works is recruitng a Loan Officer for one of our clients. 

The company runs enterprise programmes in Africa and Asia that provide training and funding to entrepreneurs for the entire business journey.

Location: Nakuru
 
Job Purpose: The Loan Officer is responsible for the monitoring and repayment of loans in Nakuru. 

This includes the reporting of loan statuses as well as the follow-up required to ensure repayment.

Responsibilities 

Monitoring and reporting of loan books
  • Master financial status template kept up to date with accurate information
  • Weekly reporting of loan status to accountant and line manager
  • Monitoring of portfolios risk
  • Prepare timely reports on loan portfolio
Loan distribution and repayments
  • Ensure automatic and manual processing of MPESA repayments
  • Negotiate payment arrangement with entrepreneurs who have delinquent loans
  • Disallow any possible engagement in cash handling
Follow up and entrepreneur visits
  • Actively follow up and visit entrepreneurs to encourage repayment
Entrepreneur recruitment
  • Nurture referral networks to recruit suitable entrepreneurs
Entrepreneur relationship management
  • Ensure guarantors information and full understanding of entrepreneur before receiving loan
  • Identify and report entrepreneurs who are on track and show promise for future stages
  • Work with entrepreneurs to identify ways of reaching their repayment goals
Key measures of success 
  • Improved repayment rates
  • Improved loan repayment schedules
  • Improved entrepreneur recruitment
  • Comprehensive overview reported on loan statuses
  • Identification and progression of high potential entrepreneurs to additional stages
Skills and Requirements
  • Hold a minimum of a Bachelors degree in a related field or a Certified Public Accountant accreditation
  • 2 years work experience in a financial role
  • Excellent working knowledge of excel and Microsoft package
  • An analytical mind and attention to detail
  • Be persuasive and confident
  • Be active and familiar with Nakuru and its surrounding areas
  • Have excellent relationship and communication skills
  • Have a strong and wide network of contacts
