We are an Insurance Broker who wishes to recruit for the following position in our Business Development Department.

Business Development Manager - Business Development Department

Ref: BDM/BDD2016

The job purpose is to Provide quality by defining long-term organizational strategic goals, identifying business opportunities and building key customer relationships and ensure quality service to the various target clients / customers by fully satisfying their needs.


Key Performance Areas
  • Provide supervisory and guiding role to the Sales Executives to ensure a high level of integrity and performance for the section. 
  • Business development through prospecting for and generating new business, planning and client retention. 
  • Conduct market research and surveys to gather intelligence aimed at providing guidance on how to deal with market changes and product development/review. 
  • Manage and enhance relationships with clients to achieve high customer service standards including handling and resolving of customer complaints. 
  • Providing support in augmenting sales strategies and targets. 
  • Customize insurance programs to suit individual customers covering a variety of risks. 
  • Oversee Business Development in all branches within and without borders.
Education and experience: 
  • Bachelors degree, Diploma in insurance - AIIK/ACII, 8 year’s relevant experience.
Competencies:
  • Excellent marketing, sales prospecting and relationship building skills, excellent interpersonal skills and an outgoing person. 
  • Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to think strategically and passionate about driving the business to implement targets 
  • Good organization skills. 
  • Knowledge of the insurance market and operations


Finance & Administration Manager - Finance Department

Ref: FAM/FD
 
The job purpose is to run accounting and control functions of the company and ensure proper funds management


Key Performance Areas 
  • Preparation of monthly / quarterly and year-end accounts. 
  • Preparation and review of monthly and quarterly budgetary reports, cash flow reports and other Management and Board reports and annual returns to the Commissioner of Insurance. 
  • Reviewing accounting entries and ensuring compliance with reporting procedures and policies (IFRS)
  • Reviewing from time to time the accounting systems and controls in place and making recommendations for improvements where necessary; 
  • Cash flow management with emphasis on premium collections and payments to insurers. 
  • Maintaining control of company investments and ensuring maximization of returns. 
  • Coordinating the end of year audit process and ensuring that the correct and relevant audit schedules are provided to the auditors on a timely basis. 
  • Liaise with other offices and management on day to day issues, e.g. authorization/allocation of expenses, etc. 
  • Confirm manually initiated funds transfers, Authorize purchases (signing LPOs) Implement / enforce management directives regarding staff/admin matters for the team you supervise 
  • Manage petty cash floats (various currencies) for the company 
  • Review returns and authorize re-imbursements. 
  • Liaising with external parties e.g. bankers, Statutory bodies for any matters arising 
  • Training, coaching and developing the finance Team.
Education and experience: 
  • Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting or Finance or a Business related degree, CPA (K). 
  • 6 years relevant experience with computerized computing systems, 3 of which must have been in a management level.
Competencies: 
  • Good analytical and communication skills. 
  • Have proven knowledge and work experience in computerized accounting system. 
  • Strong business acumen, people management and great eye for detail. 
  • Good communication and Leadership skills. 
  • Experience in use of computerized accounting package. 
  • Knowledge of procurement and stores accounting is essential


General Manager - Broking

Oversee the entire insurance broking function and ensure that the laid down underwriting and claims procedures are adopted by all teams as well as customer satisfaction standards are met.
 

Key Performance Areas 
  • Oversee the entire insurance broking function and ensure that the laid down underwriting and claims procedures are adopted by all teams as well as customer satisfaction standards are met. 
  • Develop and implement all brokerage strategies in collaboration with functional/Unit managers. 
  • Oversee the underwriting and claims in Medical, Life & Pension and General Business units as well as the Risk and Reinsurance unit 
  • Build and maintain business relationships with existing and potential clients. 
  • New product development and disseminating information through training to the brokerage team. 
  • Research on insurance companies' policies and negotiate with underwriters to find the most suitable insurance for clients at the best price; 
  • Arrange specialized types of insurance cover in complex cases; this may involve preparing reports for insurance underwriters and surveyors and negotiating with insurers.
  • Ensure clients are advised on risk management and help to devise new ways to mitigate risks. 
  • Claims management with respect to compensation, restitution, repayment and or any other remedy for loss or damage 
  • Keep up with changes in the insurance market and in the clients' industries.
Education and Experience: 
  • Bachelor’s Degree – preferably B.com-Insurance option, 
  • Holder of ACII Diploma or the local equivalent, 
  • Membership to CII/ IIK is required, 
  • Relevant Masters Degree will be an added advantage, 
  • 8 year’s relevant experience in the Insurance Industry.
Competencies: 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills,
  • Must understand all insurance aspects of the firm, 
  • Confidence to advise and negotiate with clients and underwriters, 
  • Ability to build and develop relationships and liaise with clients at all levels,
  • Customer service skills.
