Job Title: Financial Accountant

Reporting To: Kenya Country Director

Location: Nairobi, Kenya

Salary: Negotiable

Purpose of the Job:  To oversee the recording of the company’s financial information, including, but not limited to, preparing monthly reports, budgets, commentaries, standard financial statements, invoices, delivery notes, and receipt vouchers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure accurate and appropriate recording and analysis of revenues and expenses;
  • Resolve accounting discrepancies and irregularities
  • Ensure that records comply with laws and regulations; Compute taxes owed, prepare tax returns, ensure prompt payment
  • Compile and analyse financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, and document business transactions
  • Manage receivables for existing clients and payables for suppliers
  • Administer payrolls and all applicable employee taxes
  • Explain billing invoices and accounting policies to staff, vendors and clients
  • Work with both external and internal auditors when required
  • Establish and monitor the implementation and maintenance of accounting control procedures;
  • Inspect account books and accounting systems to keep up to date;
  • Make best-practices recommendations to management;
  • Develop and manage financial  systems and policies
  • Carry out any other duties, related to the job, assigned by management as and when required

Skills and Personal Attributes:
  • Proficient in Pastel Partner or highly similar ERP software
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite of programs (i.e., MS Excel)
  • Fluent in Kenyan tax and accounting codes/laws
  • Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills
  • Highest ethical standards and integrity
  • Ability to foster and thrive in a team environment
  • Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Accounting) and CPA certification required
  • 1-3 years of experience with successful track record
  • Kenyan national strongly preferred
