Windle Trust Kenya (WTK), a member of Windle Trust International Federation wishes to recruit officers for the positions described below to serve in Dadaab, Garissa County & Kakuma in Turkana County.


1. Secondary School Teachers

The secondary school teachers will be responsible for effective implementation of prescribed Kenya secondary education curriculum in Dadaab Secondary Schools.

Subject combinations: Maths/(Physics, Chem., Geog), English/Lit, Kiswahili/ (History, Business, Geog) IRE/(Arabic, History, Geog), CRE/(History, Business, Geog), Bio/(Chem., Agric), Maths/Computer studies.

Qualifications
  • A degree in Education.
  • 3 years experience teaching secondary school.
  • Proven performance as a secondary school teacher with outstanding results
  • Demonstrated capabilities and strategies to propel secondary schools to top national performance in curricular and cocurricular activities.
  • Able and willing to live, work, travel in fast-paced and insecure environment adhering to strict security guidelines.
  • Mastery of office software (MS Word, Excel, and Power Point)

2. Volunteer Secondary School Teachers

Secondary School Teachers who have recently completed a degree in education from a recognized university and are in desirous work experience for six months.

Subject combinations: Maths/(Physics, Chem., Geog), English/Lit, Kiswahili/ (History, Business, Geog) IRE/(Arabic, History, Geog), CRE/(History, Business, Geog), Bio/(Chem., Agric), Maths/Computer studies.

3. Administration Officer

The In-STEP Administration Officer is responsible for managing the implementation of the Increased Skills for Tertiary Education Program (InSTEP) of the Borderless Higher Education for Refugees (BHER) project in Dadaab.

InSTEP prepares students to undertake studies in the BHER university programmes and is  coordinated by World University Service Canada (WUSC) and Windle Trust Kenya (WTK).

The InSTEP Administration Officer reports to the BHER Project Liaison Officer (PLO) in Dadaab, and liaises with WTK, Nairobi, Kenya and WUSC in Ottawa, Canada in consultation with PLO.

This is a one-year position, with the possibility of renewal dependent on performance and the evolving needs of the project.

Qualifications
  • A degree in Education with at least 4 years of proven experience in effective and efficient management of Kenya education with high quality outputs.
  • An understanding of management of University education;
  • Excellent planning, analytical, conceptual and organizational skills.
  • Ability to motivate students to perform maximally. Ability to communicate well, be an effective team-player and problem solver are required.
  • Proven knowledge of Kenya Education systems
  • Mastery of office software (MS Word, Excel, and Power Point) required.
  • Able and willing to live, work, travel in fast-paced and environment adhering to strict security guidelines.
  • Proficiency in English language is required.

4. Programme Development Officer

Reporting to the Programme Development Manager the Programme Development Officer provides broad managerial support to the development, implementation and evaluation of funded activities.

The PDO plays a key role in assisting country programmes with the development of annual work-plans and new programme initiatives, monitoring of programme implementation and with documenting and reporting program results

Qualifications
  • A bachelor’s degree in management, development studies, education or related discipline
  • Minimum five (3) years of experience working in programme development, implementation and monitoring
  • Proven experience with management and monitoring of development programmes in education, including identifying and addressing programmatic, financial, administrative, and logistics needs area
  • Excellent oral/written communications, interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills
  • Demonstrated experience working in teams, as well as, working independently with minimum supervision
  • Excellent good proposal and report writing skills
  • Good planning and analytical capacities Mastery of office software (MS Word, Excel, and Power Point) required.
  • Mastery of office software (MS Word, Excel, and Power Point) and M & E software required.

5. Education Officer

The Education Officer will be in charge of implementation of KEEP Project in Dadaab Refugee Camp.

Key Responsibilities
  • Responsible for, coordination, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of education activities in collaboration with education staff and partners.
  • Provision of adequate and timely technical guidance, supervision, capacity building and management support
  • Promote quality girl-child education programmes.
  • Promote community self-management in relation to the running of secondary schools.
  • Provide essential physical facilities and instructional materials to schools

Qualifications
  • A degree in Education with at least 4 years of proven experience in effective and efficient management of Kenya education with high quality outputs.
  • Excellent planning, analytical, conceptual and organizational skills.
  • Ability to motivate staff and students to perform maximally and a good team-player.
  • Proven knowledge of Kenya Education systems and rich networks with Key MOE officials.
  • Superior writing skills, including proven ability to conceive and write grant proposals and donor reports.
  • Mastery of office software (MS Word, Excel, and Power Point) required.
  • Able and willing to live, work, travel in fast-paced and environment adhering to strict security guidelines

6. Storekeeper

The storekeeper is responsible of receiving, storing, issuing supplies, updating stores records and ensuring accountability of the stores systems.

Qualification
  • Degree in purchasing and supplies or storehouse management
  • Member of CIPS or KISM
  • Knowledge of public procurement and disposal Act and regulations
  • At least 3 years practical experience in stores management
  • Mastery of office software (MS Word, Excel, and Power Point) required.
  • Good interpersonal and public relationship

7. Accounts Officer

The accounts officer will be responsible for monthly consolidation of accounts and preparation of quarterly financial statement.

The AO will prepare monthly floats, update financial records and general ledger, prepare payment vouchers and assist in preparation of financial reports.

The AO will ensure clear internal audit trails, external audit support, be involved in budgeting, development of account systems and procedures and Safe custody of all financial data and maintenance of fixed assets register

Qualifications
  • A Bachelor of Commerce (accounting/Finance option)/ Bachelor of business administration from a recognized University
  • A holder of CPA III (k) final or ACCA (final )
  • Must be a member of a professional body (ICPAK/ACCA) and of good standing
  • QuickBooks is a must
  • Possesses 3 years financial/accounting experience
  • Must be computer literate

8. Logistics Officer

The Logistics Officer is Overall in-charge for overseeing all aspects of logistics functions: planning, directing, warehousing, distribution, forecasting and reporting of relevant operations.

Logistics Officer will facilitate receipts, sorting out, logging and transportation of materials to user destinations.

The LO will manage logistics personnel, procurement and storekeepers.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics or related field with additional professional training in procurement and logistics management
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role preferably
  • Mastery of office software (MS Word, Excel, and Power Point) required.
  • Good interpersonal and public relationship

9. Human Resource Assistant – Nairobi

Windle Trust Kenya is seeking for suitable candidates to fill the position of a Human Resource Assistant in the Nairobi Office.

Desired Qualification, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Bachelor’s of Commerce Degree – Human Resource Major, from a recognised University
  • Post Graduate Diploma in Human Resource Management (will be an added advantage)
  • At least two year’s working experience in a busy HR department
  • Sound knowledge of the Kenya Labour Laws
  • Experience in using a HRIS will be an added advantage
  • Proficiency in the use and application of MS Office software
  • Knowledge of best practice record keeping methodologies
  • Proactive, innovative and ability to multi-task; work under pressure
  • Proven ability and skills in problem solving
  • Ability to work independently and under minimal supervision
  • High level of integrity, commitment and professional responsibility
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationship staff members and third parties
  • Strong interpersonal and team building skills, including the ability to work in a multi-cultural setting
