Recruitment Officer

Our client a micro finance company needs to fill the above position.

Educational Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field

- Postgraduate Diploma in Human Resources will be an added advantage

Minimum Required Experience:

- 2 years’ experience working within a human resource environment with a focus on recruitment

Key Performance Areas:

1. Recruitment
  • Receives recruitment requests, for the various departments, from the Head of HR and initiates the recruitment process;
  • Responsible for liaising with Heads of Departments in the preparation of job specifications, for sourcing purposes, subject to approval by the Head of HR
  • Responsible for sourcing for suitable candidates for vacant positions using the agreed upon channels;
  • Responsible for design and placement of recruitment advertisements upon approval by the Head of HR
  • Responsible for identifying suitable recruitment channels bearing in mind cost and time implications;
  • Responsible for development of assessment tools for the selection process based on position specifications;
  • Conducts preliminary interviews and screens applicants for basic compliance with position qualifications;
  • Schedules final interviews and follows up with departmental heads to provide feedback on each candidate;
  • Responsible for taking candidates through all online assessments as and when required;
  • Liaises with recruitment agencies to fill vacant positions as and when required;
  • Ensure all recruitment policies, procedures and techniques are adhered to;
  • Responsible for recommending improvements to recruitment policies, procedures and techniques;
  • Ensures all vacancies are filled with the suitable candidates within the agreed upon timelines.

2. Administration
  • Responsible for preparing documentation for the initialization of the recruitment process and forwarding it to the relevant heads of departments for sign-off;
  • Responsible for drafting offer letters and / or letters of engagement upon appointment confirmation;
  • Ensures that all recruitment related reports are sent to the relevant parties as per the agreed upon deadlines;
  • Sends interview feedback to candidates both successful and unsuccessful;
  • Maintains an active and organized data bank of applicants for various positions;
  • Responsible for drafting motivations following recruitment motivation sessions and forwarding the same to the relevant head of department as per the agreed upon timelines;
  • Sits in all recruitment motivation sessions and submits all relevant documentation prior to the motivation session as per the agreed upon timelines;
  • Responsible for conducting pre-appointment reference checks on all candidates who go through the recruitment process;
  • Ensures all new employees complete the relevant paperwork prior to appointment and this is submitted to the Human Resource Officers in due time.

3. New Employee Orientation
  • Responsible for conducting new employee orientation and implementing the orientation plan for the initial six (6) months of employment for each new employee;
  • Responsible for monitoring employee progress during the initial six (6) months of employment and highlighting any areas of concern to the Head of HR
  • Recommends Performance Enhancement Programmes (PEP) for employees who seem to display performance related issues;
  • Provides HR support to new employees within their first six (6) months of employment;.
