Data Processing Manager - Pan Africa Hub

This role exists to provide the overall direction, coordination, planning, and operation of the Data Processing Centre. 

The role holder schedules and directs day to day operations of core processing systems and the data processing production environment to ensure efficient, effective, and timely service is provided.
 
He or she also works closely with clients and Project Managers on a variety of issues and projects and performs direct supervisory duties of department staff.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Participate in job set-up meetings to ensure clear understanding of data processing requirements
  • Advice Line Manager or Research Executives on estimated time required to complete a job and other key timings
  • Coach and mentor Senior Data Processing Executives on people management and technical aspects
  • Monitor and assist in organization the delivery of complex projects and resolve problems swiftly
  • Translating the needs of the client/ Project Managers into instructions for DP and for the production vendor (and vice-versa)
  • Work allocation to the various teams
  • Prepare tables check for consistency, accuracy and logic
  • Hand over tables to Executive in format required
  • Manage error-free creation of data for projects within specified time, resource and budget restrictions
  • Offer solutions and alternatives when problems arise
  • Develop and maintain program delivery schedules
  • Identify training needs of the DP staff and ensure that they are trained in all the relevant areas
  • Communication particularly with regard to progress on achieving deadlines
The Person:
 
To be successful in this role you will have:
  • First Degree in Mathematics/Statistics or a relevant business related field. A postgraduate qualification in data management will be an added advantaged
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in a full service market research company with at least 3 years experience as a Senior Data Processing Executive
  • Logical mindset and good technical problem solving skills (key requirement)
  • Team management and work scheduling experience
  • Strong Data Analysis skills with proficiency in SPSS, Quanvert and Quantum
  • Proficiency in creating new processes by being able to evaluate existing, and developing new solutions as needed

Senior Data Processing Executive - Pan Africa Hub

This role exists to lead a team of Data Processing Executives and Assistants to check and process the data resulted through research methodologies, in order to deliver quality data to clients.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Participate in job set-up meetings to ensure clear understanding of data processing requirements
  • Advice Line Manager or Research Executives on estimated time required to complete a job and other key timings
  • Coach and mentor Data Processing Executives on understanding and interpreting the technical aspects
  • Produce accurate analysis/scripts of market research questionnaires
  • Write basic logic routine checks to follow questionnaire routing
  • Check columnation of paper questionnaires prior to field to ensure smooth processing through Operations (if required)
  • Program production of tables and graphs
  • Prepare tables in the format required and check for consistency, accuracy and logic
  • Rules of logic control necessary to follow contingents in the tables
  • Graphic presentation of data
  • Controls data consistency within and between tables
  • Advise researchers on the most efficient way, from a Data Processing perspective, to write a computer aided script or the final analysis
  • Provide clients with exceptional customer service and ensure that expectations are managed appropriately
The Person:

  • First degree in Marketing/Statistics or a business related field
  • At least 5 years experience in a full service market research company with a minimum of 3 years experience in data management
  • Conversant with SPSS
  • Knowledge of questionnaire design, table specifications, graphic presentation of data

  • Knowledge of Quantum and Quanvert, is an added advantage

Senior Manager, Data Processing - Pan Africa Hub

This role exists to ensure that Ipsos Pan Africa has the required data processing capabilities to meet our clients’ needs.
 
The role holder will direct and manage the Data Processing Hub activities in line with the Department and Divisional strategy, to create quality, faster and more robust deliveries of market research analysis to clients.
 
The role holder will focus on optimizing Ipsos Pan Africa’s efficiencies in data processing processes and systems, and on developing the company’s ability to drive people, process and Information Technology improvements aimed at maintaining the highest levels of data quality and service to clients.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Management of the Pan Africa Hub DP resources to ensure the they provide clients with consistently high quality services
  • Developing and maintaining necessary strategies aimed at enhancing the data management processes with particular focus on the quantitative data capture
  • Optimizing the application of the data processing software via expert capability enabling more timely and cost effective development of ‘user friendly’ survey based market research to clients
  • Continuous review of the current processes within in DP – scripting, questionnaire design, data processing, setting standards across the various points and ensuring such are enforced
  • Continually recommend, data handling and data analysis systems to ensure competitive differentiation
  • Provide questionnaire design consultancy to the business units in respect of complex job assignments
  • Keep abreast of current trends within market research systems and technology, in order to maintain personal skills/knowledge base to deliver leading edge
  • Monitors and efficiently administrates the working time of the direct reports to ensure efficiency in the daily activities performed by the team and a balanced workload
  • Monthly management reporting and analysis of the activity for the department
  • Coach and mentor Data Processing Executives on understanding and interpreting the technical aspects related SPSS / Quantum, etc application software
  • Recognize opportunities and initiate improvements on workflow and processes
  • Continuously review and update the staff capabilities within the DP and liaise with the Operations Manager and the HR Manager to ensure that capacity is kept at an optimal level while ensuring efficiency
