Job Summary
The Accountant is responsible for managing and
overseeing daily financial transactions, preparing financial statements, and
ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards. Reporting to the
Senior Accountant, this role supports the hospital’s financial operations
through accurate record-keeping, analysis, and reporting.
Key
Responsibilities:
Financial
Reporting and Analysis:
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual
financial statements.
Generate financial reports for management review,
providing insights and recommendations.
Conduct variance analysis to identify discrepancies
and propose corrective actions.
General Ledger Maintenance:
Maintain the general ledger by recording and
verifying financial transactions.
Prepare and post journal entries for month-end and
year-end close processes.
Reconcile general ledger accounts and ensure accuracy
in financial reporting.
Accounts
Payable and Receivable:
Process and record vendor invoices, ensuring timely
and accurate payments.
Manage accounts receivable, track incoming payments,
and follow up on outstanding balances.
Reconcile accounts payable and receivable accounts to
ensure accuracy and completeness.
Budgeting
and Forecasting:
Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and
financial forecasts.
Monitor budget performance and report any significant
variances.
Provide support in compiling data for budget analysis
and forecasting activities.
Compliance
and Audit Support:
Ensure compliance with financial regulations.
Assist in the preparation of documentation for
internal and external audits.
Implement and maintain internal control policies and
procedures to safeguard hospital assets.
Payroll
Processing:
Support the payroll process by ensuring accurate
calculation and timely disbursement of salaries.
Maintain payroll records and resolve any
payroll-related issues.
Financial
Documentation and Record Keeping:
Maintain accurate and organized financial records,
both electronic and paper-based.
Ensure timely and accurate filing of all financial
documents.
Assist in the development and maintenance of
financial policies and procedures.
Collaboration
and Communication:
Work closely with the finance team and other hospital
departments to ensure smooth financial operations.
Communicate effectively with vendors, customers, and
other stakeholders to resolve financial issues.
Provide support and assistance to other members of
the finance team as needed.
Other
Duties:
Participate in continuous professional development
and training.
Perform other related duties as assigned by the
Senior Accountant.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance,
or a related field.
Experience: 2-5 years of accounting experience,
preferably in a healthcare or hospital setting.
Previous experience in audit is an added advantage.
Skills:
Strong understanding of accounting principles and
practices.
Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office,
particularly Excel.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
