Assistant Technician, Electronics, Job in Kenya

Position Summary:

  • The assistant technician will be expected to provide technical support in maintaining, repairing and troubleshooting electronic equipment and systems used in the University.

Key duties and responsibilities (A detail Job Description will be issued on appointment)

  • Repair and maintain electronic equipment
  • Performs preventive maintenance to all Electronics and Electrical Equipment
  • Prepares and responds to bookings of LCD projectors, laptops, projection screens, musical instruments
  • Installations of new equipment and offers technical support to all users when need arises
  • Provides sound equipment in all college activities
  • Install public address system as required
  • Installation and maintaining all lighting and power equipment
  • Follow all installation and performance of security equipment
  • Assist in structured cabling and termination both fiber and Ethernet
  • Follow-up telephone and intercom system and report as soon as possible
  • Maintain working spaces and equipment in good order to ensure an appropriate academic and technical working environment.

Qualification and Experience


  •  Diploma in Electrical/Electronic Engineering from a recognized Institution
  •  2 years’ relevant experience. Experience in an institution of higher learning is an added advantage.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities.

  •  Technical Skills; should have strong technical skills in setting up, maintaining and storing equipment as well as demonstrate use of a range of equipment.
  •  Strong communication skills; Be able to provide instructions on the use of equipment
  •  Ability to work effectively in a team and both Independently; Work flexibly as needed to provide support for technical services across a faculty.
