Chai Trading Company Limited is a wholly owned subsidiary Company of Kenya Tea Development Agency (Holdings) Ltd (KTDA) located in Mombasa. 

We are a logistics and trading company specializing in warehousing, freight forwarding to both local and international destinations and global tea trade. 

We are looking for an experienced professional to fill the following position:
 

Trading Executive
 
Reporting to the Trading Manager, the successful candidate who must demonstrate experience in handling diverse tea importing clients and knowledge of customer requirements for various tea markets will be expected to discharge the following key responsibilities among others:
  • Buying teas on behalf of clients from the Auction and privately
  • Growing the business for the company in the region
  • Building strong relations with clients and market players across the region.
  • Processing post auctions trading operations, planning and guiding on consolidation, blending, packing and sample approvals.
  • Tea tasting, matching blend standards
  • Liaising with service providers to ensure timely shipments as per customers’ expectations
  • Maximizing profitability
  • Preparing weekly and monthly reports
  • Running day to day activities of the office.
  • Oversee ISO standards, regulatory and sector requirements are adequately implemented and maintained
  • Performing any other duty that may be assigned from time to time
Qualifications / Skills / Experience

The ideal candidate must have the following qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree
  • Five years’ experience gained in a tea trading company
  • Excellent tea tasting skills

Shipping Officer

The successful candidate will be required to ensure efficiency in documentation and dispatch of products to different destinations, quality service to customers and safe custody of accountable documents.  

He/She will be expected to discharge the following key responsibilities among others:
  • Co-ordinate and direct all shipping activities as per the company policies and procedures
  • verifying shipping documents before dispatching to users
  • obtaining required licenses for shipping operations
  • Oversee smooth running of exports:- obtain shipping instructions from clients, book space in vessels, liaise with private warehouses on shipments, consolidate teas in the stuffing base, facilitate prompt collection of containers for stuffing, organize container inspection and handle all shipping correspondence
  • ensuring timely delivery of products to customers as per approved instructions
  • Oversee prompt clearance of imports from port
  • Co-ordinate local transport and warehousing, delivery to the customer and processing of payment for contractors
  • Oversee CTCL operations, facilitation of blending and packing requirements
  • Prepare and dispatch prompt cargo status reports to clients
  • Prepare and promptly submit weekly, monthly and quarterly reports of activities
  • Build and maintain collaborative relation with client, potential partners, regulatory bodies and all other stake holders
  • Prompt attendance to clients queries and claims
  • Any other duties which may be allocated by the management
Qualifications / Skills / Experience
  • Bachelors Degree, preferably B.Com/BA
  • Postgraduate Diploma in Shipping, Clearing & Forwarding and Warehousing
  • Proficiency in computer application packages
  • Conversant with Customs Simba and KWATOs systems
  • At least 5 years experience in a similar job position
  • Possess excellent transferable skills with demonstrable record of achievement in past roles
  • Ability to manage and deliver all services within a defined time frame
  • Consummate team player and goal oriented strategist

Warehouse Officer
 
The successful candidate will be required to oversee effective and efficient warehouse operations as per approved procedures.  

He/She will be expected to discharge the following key responsibilities among others:
  • Verifying stock receipts and sanctioning delivery notes before release of cargo
  • Overseeing preparation of shipments, stuffing and release
  • Responding to clients’ inquiries, requests and requirements on time
  • Ensure efficient utilization of people, machinery and equipment
  • Oversee stock management and ensure availability of status reports as required
  • Ensure housekeeping standards in accordance with industry/sector requirements
  • Provide leadership, motivation and enhance teamwork
  • Confirmation of monthly stock take and submission of stock reconciliation report
  • Ensure effective implementation and maintenance of ISO 9001:2008 (QMS) and ISO 22000 (FSMS) requirements including statutory requirements
  • Performing any other duty as may be assigned from time
Qualifications / Skills / Experience
  • Bachelors Degree, preferably B.Com/BA
