Organizational Background: The World Food Programme Somalia activities include food assistance for relief, emergency school feeding, humanitarian air and logistics services, food coordination and emergency rehabilitation projects.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Programme Officer (Information Management) and the overall supervision of the Head of Programme, the incumbent will be responsible for the following duties:-
  • Maintain, update and ensure consistency of data in the corporate information management system to track distribution data and information;
  • Provide inputs on food distribution on a weekly and monthly basis;
  • Liaise with field staff, Programme staff and other units to ensure consistency of information and compliance with established rules and procedures of data compilation and analysis;
  • Conduct field visits to streamline data compilation, identify gaps and reinforce established data compilation procedures;
  • Identify gaps, recommend and implement solutions to improve the management of Programme information;
  • Provide inputs for regular analysis of programme information, situation reports, briefs and prepare periodic reports as required;
  • Prepare weekly overview of beneficiaries reached;
  • Analyze and process requests for a variety of data;
  • Maintain accurate records and files within the area of work;
  • Draft correspondence related to the field of work;
  • Perform other related duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:

Education:
  • Secondary school education, preferably supplemented by courses in a field related to WFP programmatic activities.
Experience:
  • At least four years of progressively responsible support experience in reporting, development, food and humanitarian assistance, food security analysis, environment or other related field. 
  • Experience in information management, reporting, data handling, monitoring and evaluation of food security projects in a humanitarian context is desirable.
Language:
  • Fluency in both oral and written communication in English is a requirement.
Knowledge:
  • Experience utilizing computers, including word processing, spreadsheet and other WFP standard software packages and systems.
  • General knowledge of UN system administrative policies, rules, regulations and procedures would be an added advantage.
