PATH seeks a Technical Advisor (Case Management) for the USAID-funded Reaching every at-risk community and household with malaria services (REACH Malaria) global project. REACH aims to provide implementation support services and technical assistance to countries to accelerate progress in comprehensive delivery of facility and community-based malaria services, including malaria case management, prevention of malaria in pregnancy (MiP), seasonal malaria chemoprevention (SMC), health systems strengthening, data collection and use for service delivery, and other malaria prevention interventions.

Reporting to the Senior Malaria Technical Advisor, the Malaria Technical Advisor (Case Management) will provide technical oversight and program management for the implementation of the scope of work outlined in the PMI REACH Malaria Kenya annual work plan.

S/he will work in close collaboration with the project team, including other Technical Advisors and Technical Officers to contribute to continuity across program implementation areas and service delivery with emphasis on malaria case management, malaria diagnostics, supervision and quality improvement systems, and training and orientation systems.

The Malaria Technical Advisor (Case Management) will also work closely with the PATH international technical and program staff to ensure comprehensive technical and programmatic support for the PMI REACH Malaria project.

S/he will be responsible for the development, implementation, and monitoring of the project’s malaria case management work plan activities.

Supervision to: Technical Officer(s) (4) based in 4 counties in the lake-endemic region.

Location: Kisumu Sub- Office

Roles and Responsibilities:

Provide overall technical guidance and leadership for implementation of Malaria Case Management Activities.

Provide leadership for Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement Measures in Malaria Case Management.

Provide programmatic direction for PMI REACH Malaria in key Malaria Case Management Service areas.

Liaise and consistently engage County and Sub-County Leadership Management teams and focal points for malaria control.

Support the development of county annual work plans.

Qualifications:

Master’s degree in relevant functional/technical area, preferably in Public Health, Medicine, or Nursing.

At least 8 years of professional, progressively more responsible management experience in public and private health programs.

Proven experience in working with the County Governments will be an added advantage.

Excellent understanding and management of USAID programs.

Ability to manage projects, set priorities, and plan for the successful implementation of programs.

Clinical training skills: strong change management, results oriented and decision-making skills.

Track record of innovative and creative thinking in technical and management approaches

Excellent communications skills – verbal, written and presentation.

Computer skills including demonstrated hands-on-experience with MS Suite-Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
