Our client is an established FMCG company located in
Mtwapa, Mombasa. They are in the business of processing pulp and
concentrates/juices, and water for sale under the reputed brand. They are
looking for an experienced Agro Sourcing Manager who will be responsible for
fruits sourcing and ensure quality and quantity raw fruits for processing to
ensure business growth and sustainability.
The Agro Sourcing Manager is responsible for
developing and executing sourcing strategies to ensure a consistent and
reliable supply of agricultural products for the organization. They collaborate
with farmers, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to optimize sourcing
processes, negotiate contracts, and maintain quality standards while managing
costs and mitigating risks
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Sourcing Strategy: Develop and implement sourcing strategies to secure a
sustainable and cost-effective supply of agricultural products, aligning with
organizational goals and market trends.
Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain relationships with farmers, growers, suppliers, and agricultural cooperatives to ensure a reliable and diverse supply chain.
Negotiation: Negotiate
contracts, pricing, terms, and conditions with suppliers to achieve favourable
terms while maintaining quality standards and cost efficiency.
Quality Assurance: Establish and enforce quality control measures to ensure
that sourced agricultural products meet regulatory requirements and quality
standards.
Risk Management: Identify and assess potential risks in the supply chain,
such as weather-related disruptions, market fluctuations, and geopolitical
factors, and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact.
Market Analysis: Monitor market trends, supply-demand dynamics, and
competitor activities to identify opportunities for optimization and
improvement in sourcing processes.
Sustainability Initiatives: Collaborate with suppliers and farmers to
promote sustainable agricultural practices, environmental stewardship, and
social responsibility within the supply chain.
Logistics Coordination: Coordinate logistics and transportation
arrangements for the timely delivery of agricultural products, optimizing
efficiency and minimizing costs.
Data Analysis: Analyse
sourcing data, performance metrics, and key performance indicators (KPIs) to
assess the effectiveness of sourcing strategies and identify areas for
improvement.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Collaborate with internal stakeholders,
including production, quality assurance, finance, and sales teams, to ensure
alignment of sourcing activities with overall business objectives.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Science,
Agribusiness, Agronomy, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
Proven experience in Agro-sourcing, procurement, or
supply chain management, preferably in the agricultural industry.
Minimum seven (7) years’ experience in fruits
production & sourcing.
Strong knowledge of agricultural products, markets,
and supply chain dynamics.
Excellent negotiation skills and ability to build and
maintain relationships with suppliers and farmers.
Analytical mindset with proficiency in data analysis
and interpretation.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in
a fast-paced environment.
Effective communication and interpersonal skills,
with the ability to influence and persuade stakeholders.
Knowledge of sustainability practices and regulations
in the agricultural industry is a plus.
Proficiency in sourcing software, ERP systems, and
Microsoft Office suite.
Willingness to travel to supplier locations as
needed.
