Reporting
to the Head of Internal Audit, the Internal Audit Officer will be responsible
for evaluating adequacy, effectiveness and efficiency of the risk management
framework, Compliance program, internal control systems and procedures as per
the audit universe.
key responsibilities
- Participate
in preparation of risk based annual plan and preparing audit programs for
audit assignments.
- Developing
appropriate audit tests to achieve the desired audit objectives for each
assignment and obtaining well documented audit evidence and conclusions
through detailed working papers.
- Plan
and execute assigned engagements in accordance with accepted auditing
standards.
- Ensuring
performance of quality audits and production of timely internal audit
reports with practical and agreeable corrective actions.
- Follow
up with management to ensure that management actions have been effectively
implemented and continuously engage with stakeholders to ensure agreed
corrective actions have been effectively implemented.
- Carry
out special audits and/or investigations and other special assignments as
may be required by management from time to time.
- Evaluating
adequacy of enterprise risk management framework and recommend for areas
of improvement.
- Carryout
continuous audits by conducting periodic tests and data analysis on the
bank’s transactions.
- Lead
in scheduling and conducting branch surprise checks and cash counts.
- To
perform any other duty as assigned in line with the organization goals and
objective.
Qualifications
- Holder
of bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance or Economics from a recognized
university.
- Must
possess professional qualifications as a Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
Kenya
- Being
a member of ICPAK will be an added advantage.
- Minimum
of 3 (Three) years’ relevant working experience in internal auditing in a
financial institution or professional firm.
- Should
have in depth knowledge of IFRSs, IIA Standards and banking industry
regulatory framework.
- Working
knowledge of Computer assisted audit techniques (CAATs) and ACL audit
software will be added advantage.
- Proven
leadership skills
- Strong
report writing, presentation and communication skills.

integrity.
