About
the Role:
BURN is seeking a versatile and skilled professional to take on
the combined role of Finance and Projects Analyst. In this dual capacity, the
successful candidate will play a pivotal role in both the Finance Team and the
Project Management Office (PMO), collaborating with the Commercial,
Manufacturing, and Project Management teams. The role involves analyzing Key
Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to financial metrics, overseeing various
aspects of project planning, execution, and closure, and ensuring cost
efficiency and adherence to budget.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Financial Analysis:
- Act as a
“Business Partner” between Corporate Finance, Product Creation teams,
Corporate Manufacturing groups, and sales teams.
- Analyse trends
in KPIs, especially those related to financial metrics like sales,
expenditures, profit margin, delinquency, collections, and inventory days.
- Preparation and
monitoring of unit economics, including calculating cost variances.
- Monitor
commercial team KPIs and identify the causes of unexpected variances.
- Determine
standard costs and investigate variances with actual costs.
- Estimate product
costs for existing and new products.
- Prepare cost of
goods sold and production reports.
- Provide detailed
reports periodically and ad-hoc for the full life cycle of the products.
- Suggest
cost-reducing or profitable solutions.
- Divisional
Profitability Reporting – Provide visibility to divisional contribution to
overall company profitability.
- Product Line
Profitability, Reporting & Analysis – Create accessible profitability
reporting.
- Prepare monthly
operations variance analysis reports for all relevant cost lines.
Projects
Control:
- Develop and
maintain project budgets, ensuring alignment with overall company
financial goals.
- Audit items to
be delivered under projects.
- Review weekly
and monthly time tracking reports for irregularities.
- Ensure proper
approval of invoices before payment.
- Record drawdowns
accurately.
- Maintain ongoing
cost-to-complete forecasts.
- Regularly
compare actual expenses with the budgeted amounts.
- Look for
discrepancies, inconsistencies, or unexpected variations.
- Investigate any
deviations promptly to understand their root causes.
- Track project
expenditures against the budget.
- Identify
potential cost overruns or savings opportunities.
- Analyse
financial data and prepare regular cost performance reports.
- Mitigate cost
risks and recommend process improvements.
- Ensure
compliance with cost terms in project contracts.
Skills
and Experience:
- A bachelor’s
degree in finance, accounting, or Certified Public Accountant (CPA)/MBA.
- 3+ years’
experience as a Sales & Cost analyst.
- Proven
experience as a cost analyst or similar role.
- Strong
analytical skills and familiarity with business and financial principles.
- Excellent
communication and outstanding organizational skills.
- Experience in
data, operational, and financial analysis.
- Strong
technology expertise, including proficiency with Microsoft Excel and
experience with enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.
- Strong
understanding of project management principles and methodologies (e.g.,
Agile, Hybrid & predictive Framework).
- Proficient in
financial modelling and analysis tools (e.g., Excel, Power BI).
- Strong
understanding of accounting with Business/Finance acumen.
- Excellent
analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong
communication and interpersonal skills.
- ACCA/CPA and
CAPM/PRINCE2 certifications are highly desirable.
- Experience with
an ERP or Accounting systems.
- Strong
understanding of the EVM in project management.
