Microbiologist

Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct testing including Sterility tests; Bioburden tests; Efficacy tests; Bacterial Endotoxin tests; Identification of Microorganisms and Sensitivity tests.
  • Develop, write and maintain Standard Operating Procedures and Work Instructions for the laboratory.
  • Manage samples including receiving; registration; storage and disposal according to approved laboratory procedures.
  • Manage laboratory equipment including operation, cleaning, calibration and maintenance.
  • Manage storage of reference microorganisms to ensure they remain viable for analysis.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records.
  • Maintain general cleanliness of the laboratory following good housekeeping practices.
  • Maintain inventory of laboratory consumables including PPEs, reagents, media, equipment spare parts and glassware for accountability.
  • Participate in self-inspections for continuous improvement.
  • Ensure compliance to safety and regulatory requirements while working under Good Laboratory Practices (GLP).

Job requirements:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Microbiology, Biotechnology or any other related course
  • At least 5 years’ hands-on experience in a Microbiology testing laboratory
  • Experience in food-borne pathogen testing or microbiology testing in the food and beverage industry is an added advantage
  • Experience working in an ISO 17025:2017 accredited laboratory is desirable
