Vacant Position: Retention Officer
Job Location: Nairobi County
The Research and Programs
Office at Kenyatta National Hospital in collaboration with the University of
Washington is seeking to fill the following position.
ABC study is looking to hire 1
retention officer to be based in Nairobi Starting June 2023.
Job Purpose: The retention Officer will be responsible for
participant recruitment, enrollment and retention in Nairobi Counties, and
store-keeping of files, supplies and commodities used at the research clinic.
He/she will directly report to the Study Coordinator.
Specific Tasks and Responsibilities
Systematically organize folders, supplies and
commodities used at the study site.
Maintain store logs of clinic supplies and
commodities.
Describe the study to women attending MNCH, and
screen clients at the health facility to assess interest in, and eligibility for
participation in the research study.
Link eligible clients to the study nurse and
clinician for enrolment into the study.
Setting appointments for participants for follow-up
visits
Regular communication with study participants to
optimize adherence to scheduled visits and ensure high retention in the study.
Provide an effective personalized and individual
support service to the study participants.
Prepare daily and weekly clinic summaries of women
screened and recruited into the study.
Tracing participants who have missed appointments,
identify their challenges, and liaise with the clinical team to support them to
return to the study.
Requirements
Diploma in related field
Must have a valid certificate in Human Subjects
Protection or Good Clinical Practice
Must have at least five years’ experience working
with women and young children in a research clinic setting.
Must have experience in screening and enrolment of
participants for medical research.
Must have experience in handling participant
appointments, maintaining follow-up registers, and in tracing and retention
activities within a clinic research setting.
Must have experience in organizing clinical research
folders, and supplies and commodities in a medical research setting.
Must have store-keeping experience in maintaining
supplies and commodities in a busy medical research clinic.
Must have at least two years’ experience in working
with entry of medical research data in the following software: MS Access and MS
Excel
Should be familiar with conducting data collection
using REDCAP software.
Excellent communication skills both face to face, as
well as electronically (telephone, virtual meetings, email).
