Practical
Action is implementing a 2-year project funded by the Water Sector Trust Fund
(WSTF) under SWASAP project to implement activities in Kalokol area, Turkana
Central Sub- County.
The project goal is to increase community resilience and adaptation to climate change through sustainable, peaceful use of natural resources including improved access to water and sanitation services in Turkana County.
The
project will enhance integrated water resources management supporting 785
households; Increase access to sustainable sanitation service for 900
households through CLTS and 2,500 learners in 3 public institutions; increase access
to sustainable water services for 950 households, strengthen governance and
management of available water resources and improve incomes for 400 men and
women through alternative livelihoods diversification initiatives.
Practical
Action seeks to recruit a project Assistant – WASH to be based in our Lodwar
field office. The post holder will have the primary responsibility for the
design, implementation, follow-up, and evaluation of hygiene promotion and CLTS
(community-led total sanitation), activities in Kalokol area in Turkana central
sub county.
In
addition, the post holder will provide necessary support to the team to
implement all activities of WASH projects.
To
be successful in the role, you will have a bachelor’s degree, or Diploma in
Civil, Water Resources Engineering or its equivalent from a recognized
institution, a public health-related degree or Diploma in Public health
/community nursing/community health/ health promotion with experience in
handling technical projects, at least one year of experience working in a
similar capacity, ability to facilitate community programs to raise awareness
of hygiene (male and female campaigns), plan and lead training sessions for
communities, familiarity with AutoCAD, GPS, ArcGIS and Google Earth and experience
working in Turkana County is desirable.
