Driver

Responsibilities
·
Drive the assigned vehicle for all
official duties in a professional manner ensuring timeliness and safety of
staff, authorized passengers, and/or transported goods; and observe road and
traffic laws, rules and regulations.
·
Keep the assigned vehicle clean and
tidy, well serviced and maintained, and adequately fueled.
·
Make sure that vehicle has prescribed
working tools and equipment prior to embarking on a trip.
·
Maintain proper logs for all trips,
fully filled in and signed for every trip with proper details such as trip
description, daily mileage, fuel consumption, oil changes, greasing, repairs
etc.
·
Prepare monthly report on the
activities of the vehicle in the prescribed format.
·
Ensure all legal documents such as
insurance policy and inspection certificate regarding the vehicle are current
and keep valid driving license.
·
Conduct regular/day-to-day
maintenance checks including pre and post trip inspections (check oil, water,
battery, brakes, tyres, etc.) and carry out regular inspection and testing of
vehicle for preventive maintenance (engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation
and changes, wheel balancing, replacing filters etc).

Report any detected mechanical
faults/defects to the supervisor in a timely manner.
·
Follow safety rules for staff and other
authorized personnel using the vehicles and ensure existence of first aid kit
and fire extinguishers, and use of safety belts.
·
Transport only authorised goods and
carry only authorised passengers and make them aware of rules, regulations and
guidelines for use of the motor vehicle.
·
Ensure non-staff signs vehicle travel
indemnity form before start of travel.
·
Report all incidences, accidents,
injury or damage of vehicles and occupants are reported timely in line with
established procedures.
·
Keep an updated emergency contact
list in the vehicle.
·
Keep the vehicle secure at all times,
including non-interference with the installed security gadgets.
·
Perform official errands, undertake
deliveries, and carry out other messengerial duties. Perform any other duties
as may be assigned by the Supervisor from time to time.
Specifications
·
Kenya Certificate Secondary Education
(KCSE)
·
At least 5 years’ relevant work
experience driving company vehicle (preferably within the NGO sector) with
accident-free record.
·
Must be a holder of a clean and valid
driving license Class ‘ABCE’
·
Possess a mechanics Government Trade
Test III.
·
Holder of AA driving certification of
competency will be an added advantage.

The
position is responsible for public relations and communication strategies and
activities at HiH EA; these include promoting awareness of its programs and
create increased visibility of the organization with beneficiaries, donors,
partners, key stakeholders, government agencies and the general public. It also
ensures dissemination of appropriate messages to relevant audiences (both
internally and externally) through effective channels, and promotes
documentation of the organization’s program work, as well as experiences,
lessons and sharing.
Duties and Responsibilities

Management of Public Relations and
Communication
·
Support the development and
implementation of strategic and business plans for the unit.
·
Spearhead the development,
implementation and periodic review of operations plans, management plans and
work plans for the unit.
·
Support the development of annual
budgets, and manage its utilization and monitoring for the unit.
·
Provide overall technical support and
advice on public relations and communications at HiH EA.
·
Analysis and report on impact of
communications activities on a quarterly basis and also compile and submit
periodic and management reports as prescribed.

entrusted to the unit.

mobilization by providing relevant data and information for proposal writing,
concept papers etc.

Coordinate Communication Initiatives
and Processes
·
Build and maintain the profile and
brand of HiH EA that promotes of a positive image and create visibility with
its audiences.

Coordinate initiatives that enhance
communication with key stakeholders and facilitate use of appropriate media to
support HiH EA’s communication with external audiences.
·
Coordinate the publication and disseminate
of HiH EA’s newsletters, magazines, documentaries, brochures, reports etc.
·
Manage content for communication
materials reviewing, editing, branding and printing and upload finished
products in relevant channel; articles, graphics, imagery, videos, pictures,
etc.
·
Develop and maintain effective
mechanisms for internal communications.
·
Support in coordination of marketing,
fundraising and resource mobilization activities.
·
Develop the organization’s response
to current issues and events, online and for distribution to appropriate target
audiences.
·
Coordinate the production and
printing of annual reports.

Organize networking forums for media.

Support in drafting of various
articles, letters and communiques as and when required

such as media briefing and releases, PR events etc.

·
Coordinate the writing,
proof-reading, editing, and compilation of materials for communication,
correspondence and publication by HiH EA to promote program work.

Take and edit pictures, audio and
video recording for documentation purposes and for sharing with partners and
key stakeholders.
·
Assist in organizing donor
meetings/forums.
·
Maintain an updated database of
partners, donors and key stakeholders.

Facilitate the production of
newsletters, IEC materials, publicity materials such as brochures, pamphlets,
documentaries, annual reports and special publications etc as directed by
management.

Management of Website and Social
Media Platforms
·
Maintain HiH EA website and official
social media platforms sites (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Flickr), YouTube
etc.) and keep them relevant, updated and interactive, while ensuring
implementation of new emergent platforms.

Ensure that the content of website is
appropriate and up to date.

Ensure interactive responses to
partners and public in the social media.

Prepare and disseminate blogs,
updates, photos features, stories etc.
·
Work in collaboration with the ICT
team to improve website and keep it user friendly.

Represent the organization in public

Qualifications
·
Diploma in Mass Communication, Public
Relations or Journalism.
·
At least three (3) years’ experience
in media relations, public relations and communications in a busy organization
in a similar position preferably from NGO background
·
Excellent interpersonal skills and
good time and personal management skills
·
Good communication skills and strong
command of English and Swahili languages
·
A strong team player and demonstrated
ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team setting.
·
Demonstrated ability in event
planning and facilitation
·
Computer literacy in the use of MS
Office Suite – Windows, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook, with practical
experience in the use of electronic communications including email, internet,
etc.
·
Ability to communicate technical
information clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical
colleagues, and have excellent report writing skills
·
Willingness to travel to program
sites and interact effectively with local communities and to document the
activities.
·
Ability to work independently but
consult as necessary and deliver results with minimum supervision and under
pressure.
