The Aga Khan Hospital, Kisumu has outreach Health Services at Kisii, Kakamega, Kitale, Bungoma, Kericho, Kibuye-Kisumu, West End- Kisumu, Busia, Homa- Bay, Kapsabet, Migori, Bomet, with plans to spread to Narok.


With the ongoing expansion we seek to recruit a professional for the following vacant position:
Consultant Obstetrician & Gynaecologist and Head of Department
Overall Responsibility
The successful candidate will be expected to provide overall leadership and governance, as well as clinical care in the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology.
Specifically, the candidate will: –
·         Provide balanced, evidence-based medical care to patients and their families in the department.
·         Drive growth and expansion of the scope of services within the department.
·         Lead the departmental quality improvement and patient safety agenda, fitting within the institutional overall objectives
·         Inculcate teamwork and a multidisciplinary approach to patient management.
·         Support medical education as part of continuing professional development services within the department and the institution.
·         Engage in teaching and mentorship activities of junior doctors and interns.
Qualifications
·         MMed in Obstetrics and Gynaecology from a university recognized by CUE.
·         Specialist Recognition by the Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists’ Board
·         Registered, licenced and retained by the Kenya Medical Practitioners’ and Dentists’ Board.
·         At least two years post graduate working experience.
·         Knowledge and interest in Laparoscopy will be an added advantage.
Required Skills and Competencies
·         The successful candidate will be required to demonstrate the drive, desire and ability to enhance the scope of maternal health services in order to meet and exceed the expectation of the customer.

Consultant General Surgeon
Overall Responsibility: The successful candidate will be expected to provide quality surgical services to hospital clients, participate actively in quality improvement activities including continuing medical education.
He / she will be expected to be an active member of the multidisciplinary health care team and contribute to the continuing professional development programs in the Hospital.
Qualifications
·         MMed in Surgery from a university recognized by CUE
·         Registered, licenced and retained by the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board.
·         At least two years working experience as a graduate.
·         Knowledge and interest in Endoscopy will be an added advantage.
Required Skills and Competencies
·         Excellent communication and people skills.

·         High level of customer-satisfaction orientation

ECHO / ECG Technician
Overall Responsibility: Working closely with the medical team, the successful candidate will be expected to perform ECGs and Echocardiograms.
Requirements
·         Diploma in ECG / ECHO studies or equivalent
·         Two years’ experience performing ECGs and Echos in a busy healthcare environment.
·         Excellent communication and people skills
·         Good customer service orientation


Welfare Officer
Overall Responsibility: Reporting to the Credit Controller, the successful candidate will be responsible for assessing patients’ viability for possible consideration for welfare financing, support in the applications and vetting of potential welfare cases and provide documentary support to management for decision making.
Other Responsibilities:
·         Assess viability for welfare qualifications.
·         Monitor bills for in – patients on welfare support.
·         Participate in fundraising for patient welfare kitty.
·         Coordinate with the Credit Controller and Finance leadership on management of welfare budget.
·         Facilitate applications of viable patient cases for consideration for welfare financing.
·         Carry out other welfare management functions for continuity of healthcare provision.
Requirements
·         Bachelor’s degree in Business Management / Administration from a recognized institution.
·         Minimum two years Credit management work experience preferably in a Hospital environment.
·         Excellent customer service and people management skills.
·         Excellent computer skills and ability to work with minimum supervision.

Laboratory Technologist
·         Homa – Bay Medical Center
·         Narok Medical Center
Overall Responsibility: Reporting to the Senior House Officer In charge the successful candidate will be responsible for preparing documentation, processing patient’s samples, ensuring timely dispatch of results and maintain records as per the AKHK laboratory policy.
Other Responsibilities:
·         Receive and process specimens, release patients results and archive specimens as per laboratory procedures.
·         Maintain relevant equipment in terms of routine maintenance, calibration and quality control.
·         Participate in proficiency testing and other quality assurance programs.
·         Create and maintain documents and records as required in the laboratory.
·         Ensuring compliance with relevant policies and procedures including but not limited to those related to safety and infection control.
Requirements
·         Higher National Diploma in Medical Laboratory Sciences from a recognized institution.
·         Excellent knowledge of laboratory operations and procedures.
·         Excellent knowledge and experience in hematology, biochemistry, histology and microbiology is essential.
·         Ability to write and review SOPs.
·         Excellent computer skills and ability to work with minimum supervision.
·         Minimum three years working experience in a busy medical laboratory.
·         Knowledge and experience in ISO 15189 Standard is desirable.
·         Possession of a Phlebotomy certificate will be an added advantage.
·         Registration with the Kenya Medical Laboratory Technicians and Technologists Board with a current practice license is mandatory.
