The African Population and
Health Research Center (APHRC) is an international non-profit, non-governmental
organization that carries out high quality, policy-relevant research on
population, health and education issues facing sub- Saharan Africa.
Our goal is to generate
evidence for meaningful action to improve the lives of all Africans.
APHRC seeks to recruit two research
assistants for two of their projects.
- Assist in
conducting in-depth interviews and focus group discussions.
- Assist in
transcription of qualitative interviews
- Record daily
field notes with details of data collection activities undertaken and
emerging questions or lessons from the field
- Assemble all
data (audio recordings, transcripts, typed notes, etc.) into an organized
package for sharing with the project lead
- Assist in
compiling progress reports final report detailing the qualitative data
collection process, and main observations
- Keep updated
records and data bases of assigned work
- Timely and
accurate accounting of project finances
- Timely
reporting of project related issues for quick and effective
troubleshooting
Qualifications and Experience
- Undergraduate
degree in a social science discipline
- Previous
experience conducting qualitative data collection in under-resourced
settings
- Ability to
organize individual interview and focus group discussions
- Willingness to
take initiative, multi-task, and to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Fluency in
Swahili
