We’re
looking for an amazing and dynamic Connectivity Specialist who will lead
ZanaAfrica’s efforts to connect to girls and women through technology-based
platforms.
The
primary focus of this role will be to develop of our girl-facing SMS platform
to deliver answers to girls’ questions about their bodies, choices and
selves.
This
SMS platform will be tested as part of a large scale randomized control trial
study beginning in 2017.
Over
time, the Connectivity Specialist will additionally lead the social media
strategy for the company and it’s products.
We’re
looking for someone who’s passionate about the power of connectivity across all
channels. S/he must feel comfortable developing products and communication
strategies across technological platforms and understands how best to leverage
them to unlock the most impact.
Our
new Connectivity Specialist should feel comfortable managing big projects
while getting down into the details.

will play a key role in the Creative team and work closely with a team of

girls and women.

Responsibilities
Develop
the first SMS platform in Kenya (to our knowledge) that delivers critical
reproductive health and life skills information to young adolescent girls
(10-14)
- Collaborate
with local SMS platform provider to build an SMS-based interface that is
easy to use and engaging for young adolescent girls in Kilifi, Kenya
- Work
closely with Girl-Content and Monitoring & Evaluation Teams to design
a content strategy that reflects girls’ needs and wants and results in
rapid product uptake
- Conduct
user testing to ensure all products developed are rapidly iterated and
optimized for girls’ use and enjoyment
- Optimize
product to minimize project costs per use of the platform and monitor
overall budget for the project with the Creative Producer
- Coordinate
with the Creative Director and Production Director to ensure timelines and
deliverables are being met
- Ensure
all products developed are designed to international child protection
standards and take into account girls’ unique situations
- Liaise
with consultants and advisors to establish and maintain highest quality
and accuracy of content
Social
Media Strategy
- Work
with Chief Branding and Marketing Officer and Creative Director to develop
a social media strategy (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Medium) for the Nia
Movement, adhering to brand guidelines
- Establish
and execute a social media content plan
- Conduct
brainstorms with cross-functional team to surface and gather new,
innovative ways to create social content and programs
- Coordinate
with Chief Branding and Marketing Officer to conceptualize, design and
implement campaigns
- Work
collaboratively with Graphic Designer/Creative Team to disseminate
creative assets
- Define
metrics and use analytics to measure success of social media strategy and
targeted campaigns
- Conduct
web asset audits to map a brand’s global web presence and assess the
effectiveness of each digital asset
- Create
strategy and content for web presence and outreach.
- Identify
new communities and technologies for marketing efforts.

with the Creative Director to evolve, build/create, design and activate
ZanaAfrica Group and Nia brand websites
- Provide
SEO analysis and recommendations in coordination with elements and
structure of websites and web pages

Qualifications

- Bachelors
in Communications, Marketing, Computer Engineering, Industrial Design,
User Interface Design, or related field
- 3-4
years of relevant experience in mobile technology, mHealth, SMS
development Digital Media, Social Media,
- 2-3
years of project management experience, working with creative a plus
- Strong
understanding of user experience design
- Experience
with A/B testing and running focus groups in Kenya
- Excellent
written and verbal communication skills in both English and Kiswahili,
including the ability to articulate complex and creative concepts to team
and external partners
- Strong
attention to detail

Responsibilities
Develop
and implement the brands and creative elements that bring the Nia Movement to
life
- Create
strategic plans, guidelines and value propositions for ZanaAfrica Group,
Nia Movement and related brands with the Branding & Marketing Officer
and other team members.
- Build
ZanaAfrica’s existing and future product brands and oversee initiatives
including package design, marketing campaigns, events, health education

Qualifications

- BA

years of experience in creative industry and/or consumer products,
experience working with an FMCG a plus
- 2-3
years of leadership in creative project management from conceptualization
to execution; previous experience in publishing is a significant plus

About the Role: ZanaAfrica Group is building a powerful movement for girls and women in Kenya by delivering awesome feminine hygiene products coupled with the critical, relevant, and engaging information girls and women need and seek to make informed decisions.
We’re
looking for an experienced, thoughtful, and dynamic Production Director who
will oversee the development of trans-media health education platforms, with a
focus on producing the first teen magazine in Kenya targeting girls between the
ages of 10-14.
Nia
Teen Magazine and its corresponding SMS Platform will deliver accurate,
referable, and responsive health information that girls seek and need through
engaging content that celebrates real girls’ stories and highlights
girl-created content.
The
magazine and SMS platform are designed for knowledge retention, behavior change
and to encourage social capital for girls in our target audience. Both will be
tested as part of a ground breaking randomized control trial starting in 2017
to understand the role of sanitary pad provision and health education in girls’
educational attainment and well-being.
The Production Director will be a key player on the magazine team, ensuring that project deliverables are being met and working closely with a highly talented Creative Team who develop and generate high quality content.
This
is a highly cross-functional role for someone who is analytical, energetic,
creative and unafraid to roll up his/her sleeves, with a demonstrated passion
for girls’ and women’s rights and well-being.
Responsibilities
Production
Cycle Management for Nia Teen Magazine
- Lead
and oversee Nia Teen Magazine production cycles to ensure deadlines are
met for termly distribution of the magazine in line with grant funding
deliverables
- Ensure,
alongside the Creative Director, all deliverables are met for completion
of the magazine, including content mapping and creation, illustration and
aspect creation, copy-editing, design and visual layout
- Coordinate
content plan with the Editor while getting buy-in and approvals from
relevant team members
- Manage
and coordinate the review and sign off process across the Brand and
Content components
- Lead
procurement along with Creative Director and Chief Finance Officer of
high-quality and Value for money printing partners
- Forecast
hiring needs and onboard and support new positions for team when needed
Oversee
SMS Product Development
- Oversee
and strategize the SMS platform development with the Connectivity Manager
and Girl-Content Team to ensure the development of a girl-facing SMS
platform that works harmoniously and responsively to magazine content
- Co-manage
Connectivity Manager in his/her day-to-day development of the SMS platform
Build
Partnerships for scalable and sustainable distribution
- Ideate,
model, and test distribution strategies for magazine and SMS platform with
the Chief Marketing + Branding Officer; contribute to establishing
visibility of Nia Brand throughout Kenya
- Develop
and maintain relationships with distribution partners
- Optimize
physical attributes of magazine and included features (size, folding,
