Communications Manager

Job Location: MYSA Headquarters.

Reports to:Executive Director.

Job Specifications
  • Correspond with employees and external stakeholders to keep them informed of organization developments.
  • Have a full understanding of media needs and media relationships
  • Communicate with the media and other interested parties to make important announcements in a way that attempts to maintain a positive image of the organization.
  • Be proactive, reliable, responsible and accurate with attention to detail
  • Possess the ability to keep information confidential
  • Tactical understanding of all primary social media platforms
  • A wide degree of creativity and latitude
Responsibilities:
  • Collates all information of the programmes and activities for publication and manages the website to inform the general public in line with the objectives of the organization.
  • Contributes to the development and implementation of the Organization’s communication strategy and also ensures the quality of the website’s content and visibility, including responding to enquiries and Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
  • Co-ordinates the content of the Organization’s publication of all programmes, activities and production of periodic news updates, newsletters and presentations.
  • Sources for, collates and manages content from all internal stakeholders and ensures that all the Organization’s activities are speedily posted on the website
  • Ensures that the website is up to date, interactive, user friendly, lively and has distinctive and engaging content
  • Initiates the production of document, brochures, flyers and leaflets
  • Reviews media materials for information of interest to the organization
Qualification:
  • A First Degree from a recognized university or equivalent in Communications, Publishing and/or Information Management
Work Experience:
  • At least five (5) years relevant experience in Communications and/or Information Management
  • Good knowledge of web tools including desktop publishing and Content Management
  • Experience in conceptualizing, designing and implementing on-line communication campaigns.
