The
Media Council of Kenya is an independent national institution established by
the Media Act, 2007 as the leading institution in the regulation of media and
in the conduct and discipline of journalists.
VA/1 ICT Officer
Job Role: Reporting to the Human Resource & Administration Manager, the overall responsibility will be formulating, developing and implementing effective ICT strategy, management policies and procedures, administering day-to-day operations and co-coordinating all departmental activities to obtain optimum ICT value while ensuring compliance with all relevant and applicable regulations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, design and
implement aligned ICT strategies for effective management of services at
all levels;
- Handle all
networking, software, trouble shooting and computer hardware issues;
- Oversee all
organisation’s web ,intranet and internet issues;
- Advise
management on institutionalizing effective ICT governance structures;
- Formulate and
enforce ICT policies, procedures and systems;
- Plan, develop,
review and implement data back-up Strategy;
- Advise
management on all electronic and communication infrastructure including
email, telephones and data networks;
- Provide
technical support services to computer users as well as train them to
acquire skills needed to implement computer-based information systems;
- Oversee the
running and maintenance of Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and the media
monitoring system;
- Undertake
research on emerging information and communication technologies to ensure
appropriate ICT investment in line with market trends;
- Oversees the
Development and implementation of ICT systems’ security strategies,
policies and procedures as well as the integrity and availability of data;
- Lead and drive a
culture of innovation and creativity in seeking ICT solutions to
organizational challenges and in business processes to facilitate
efficient and effective trade transactions.
Minimum
qualifications:
- Bachelor’s
Degree in ICT Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent from a recognised
institution.
- Member of
professional body Information System Audit and Control Association or
equivalent ICT professional bodies.
- Knowledge of
CISSP/CISA/MCSE standards/requirements.
- Knowledge/training
in DIMS.
- Computer
literacy in accounting systems preferably Enterprise Resource Planning.
- At least three
(3) years of progressive relevant experience.
- Proficiency in
leading edge computing technology, programming, and practical knowledge of
SQL databases.
- CCNA
qualifications.
VA/2 Administrative Assistant
- Manage the
reception area to ensure effective telephone and visitor handling to
maintain professional image of the council;
- Making
appointments and reservations both internally and externally for staff in
the Council;
- Receiving and
assisting clients/visitors at the reception, greeting them in a courteous,
warm, and professional manner Promoting a positive image of the community;
- Receiving,
sorting, registering and forwarding incoming mails to the Chief Executive
Officer’s Office for action;
- Routinely
perform basic typing, filing and clerical work as requested;
- Performing basic
office administrative and HR duties assigned;
- Attending to all
incoming and outgoing calls of the Council;
- Operate office
machines, such as photocopiers and scanners, facsimile machines, voice
mail systems, and personal computers.
Minimum
qualifications:
- Possess a
Diploma in secretarial studies from a recognised institution preferably KNEC
or Degree in Human Resource/Business Administration.
- Proficient in
Microsoft Office to include: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Be excellent
interpersonal skills and integrity.
- Good command of
both English and Kiswahili languages.
- Have ability to
work under pressure and independently.
- Three (3) years
relevant experience in a similar position in a busy organization with HR
and administrative responsibilities.
