UAP Group is a
pan-African Financial Services Group with interest in Insurance, Investment
Management, Property Investments, Securities Brokerage and Financial
Advisory.
Currently UAP has eight (8)
businesses operating in Kenya, Uganda and South Sudan which are market leaders
in their respective markets, and will be entering the Tanzania, Rwanda and
Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) markets before the end of the year.
As part of this strategy,
UAP has established UAP Investments Limited, a subsidiary of UAP Holdings
Limited, to provide asset management and investment advisory services.
UAP Investments will be
positioned as a premier investment firm in Africa, with a central hub in
Nairobi, Kenya.
In order to execute its
ambitious growth strategy, UAP Investments would like to recruit an initial
dedicated team of ambitious, focused and high performing professionals for the
following key roles:
General Manager / Chief Executive Officer
Reporting to the Board of Directors and to the Deputy Group Managing Director, the General Manger will be the Chief Executive Officer of the Company and will be responsible for the following:.
General Manager / Chief Executive Officer
Reporting to the Board of Directors and to the Deputy Group Managing Director, the General Manger will be the Chief Executive Officer of the Company and will be responsible for the following:.
- Development of a robust growth
strategy;
- Operationalizing of the Company’s
strategy;
- Development and implementation of
key processes, procedures and systems;
- Conceptualization and development
of investment products and services;
- Development and execution of
robust market entry strategies;
- Development of initial business
units and core team;
- Effective implementation of Board
directives;
- Profitability of the business and
achievement of business targets;
- Overall leadership of the
business.
Qualifications and
Experience
- Strong undergraduate degree in a
numerate field e.g. Economics, Engineering, Business Administration etc.;
- A Masters Degree in a related
discipline;
- Professional certification in a
relevant field e.g. CFA, CPA etc.;
- Strong experience of working in
financial markets for at least 10 years;
- Senior management experience of at
least 5 years at a Fund Management institution, Investment Bank or stock
brokerage;
- Experience of working in a
start-up company would be an added advantage;
- Analytical with strong attention
to detail;
- Strong leadership skills;
- Strong team player with excellent
interpersonal skills;
- Excellent communication skills
both orally and in writing.
Head, Business Development
Reporting to the General
Manager, the Head, Business Development will be responsible for the following:
- Development of key distribution
channels for the Retail, High Net Worth and Institutional markets;
- Recruitment, training and
management of a team of Financial Advisors;
- Development and execution of
marketing strategies and action plans;
- Development of a strong pipeline
of key business prospects;
- Presentation of the Firm’s
products and services to prospective clients and at key marketing events;
- Developing of training and
marketing materials;
- Coaching and managing the Business
Development team.
Qualifications and
Experience
- Strong undergraduate degree in
Marketing, Business Administration or a related field;
- Masters Degree in an appropriate
discipline;
- Professional certification in
Marketing or a related discipline;
- Experience of working in a Fund
Management business for at least 5 years;
- Proven experience of developing
and managing a team of Financial Advisors;
- Proven experience of meeting and
exceeding sales target;
- Experience of developing
profitable distribution channels for financial services products and
services;
- Strong leadership skills;
- Strong team player with excellent
interpersonal skills;
- Excellent communication skills
both orally and in writing;
- Experience of working in a
start-up company would be added advantage.
Manager, Fund Services
Reporting to the General
Manager, the Manager, Fund Services will be the Operations Manager and will be
responsible for the following:
- Development of procedures and
processes for client servicing, back-office and Fund Accounting;
- Development of appropriate
documentation e.g. application, redemption, and withdrawals forms etc.;
- Mapping of the business processes
in the Fund Management software;
- Development of policy and
processes for daily pricing of investment funds;
- Development of appropriate
templates for enhancing operational efficiency;
- Implementation of core systems;
- Coaching and management of client
services, back-office and fund accounting teams
Qualifications and
Experience
- Strong undergraduate degree in a
numerate discipline e.g. Accounting, Business Administration, Finance etc.
- Masters Degree would be an added
advantage;
- Professional certification in
accounting or related filed e.g. CPA, ACCA, CFA;
- Experience of working in a fund
management business for over 5 years;
- Proven experience of working in an
operational role in a fund management or stock broking firm;
- Experience of growing and managing
a team;
- Strong leadership skills;
- Strong team player with excellent
interpersonal skills;
- Excellent communication skills
both orally and in writing;
- Experience of working in a
start-up company would be an added advantage.
Portfolio Manager
Reporting to the General
Manager, the Portfolio Manager will be responsible for the following:
- Development of a robust investment
policy for management of all portfolios;
- Development and implementation of both
Strategic Asset Allocation and Tactic Asset Allocation strategies;
- Development and implementation of
a robust framework for design of optimal portfolios;
- Active management of portfolios to
ensure generation of superior risk-adjusted returns;
- Development and implementation of
robust strategies for selection of securities, both fixed income and
equities;
- Development and implementation of
risk management tools;
- Performance monitoring of equity
and fixed income portfolios;
- Management and coaching a team of
Investment Analysts and Associates;
- Presentation to key prospective
and existing clients.
Qualifications and
Experience
- Strong undergraduate degree in
Economics, Finance, Actuarial Science, Business Administration or related
field;
- A Masters Degree in a related
discipline;
- Professional certification in an
appropriate discipline e.g. CFA;
- Experience of working in financial
markets for over 5 years;
- Direct experience of managing
investment portfolios for over 3 years (both fixed income and equities);
- Strong analytical skills and
highly numerate;
- Excellent communication skills,
both orally and in writing;
- Experience in managing a team of
Analysts;
- Strong team player with excellent
interpersonal skills;
- A self-starter with strong will to
succeed.
