The agribusiness / value chain expert will work under the overall supervision of the provincial director of agriculture in western province. The duty station will be at the ministry of agriculture county office (Kakamega and Bungoma).

The Ministry of Agriculture/GIZ Western province is advertising for the above position.
The agribusiness / value chain expert will work under the overall supervision of the provincial director of agriculture in western province. The duty station will be at the ministry of agriculture county office (Kakamega and Bungoma).
In particular the National Technical Adviser (NTA) shall:
- Organize
and facilitate trainings in value chain/Agribusiness development for
ministry of agriculture staff
- Carry
out training needs assessments
- Identification
of actors in selected value chains
- Backstopping
trainings for value chain-stakeholders done by extension staff Source,
compile and collate information on agroprocessing
- Mainstream
cross-cutting issues together with responsible officers Coordinate value
chain-activities
- Organize
and facilitate value chain trainings as a lead trainer for extension staff
- Reinforce
networking between ministries, private sector, and development partners
- Facilitate
ministry of agriculture staff in documentation of best-practises, success
stories, etc.
Profession and work experience:
- The
NTA is expected to hold a university degree in agricultural economics,
agribusiness development or any agricultural related field.
- A
minimum of 5 years professional experience as agricultural extension
provider is requested.
- A
minimum 2 years working experiences in value chain-promotion, and ToT are
essential,
Additional knowledge and experience:
- Common
knowledge in ICT skills (Microsoft office applications, especially word,
PowerPoint, Outlook Express, and Internet Explorer), data analyzing- and
processing skills are a must.
The applicant must have a good communication and facilitation skills, familiar with participatory approaches, team building skills, and respect for diverse cultures.
Knowledge of languages:
Written and spoken English Spoken Kiswahili and Luhya
