Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist, Kenya

We are currently seeking a Monitoring and Evaluation Specialist for a USAID-funded program based in Nairobi with frequent travel to program areas in Kenya.

The M&E Specialist will be responsible for monitoring the performance of agriculture program activities and managing the systems for collecting M&E information.

He/she will be responsible for ensuring that monitoring and reporting of all program activities and outcomes are in place, effectively implemented and well synchronized between program locations and components.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage and direct data collection activities; guide technical direction of the M&E approach and strategy in consultation with ACDI/VOCA Kenya and headquarters offices.
  • Coordinate and design the baseline, midterm, and final evaluations, and ensure that the recommendations from the midterm evaluation are implemented.
  • Design, implement, and lead comprehensive, efficient, and effective M&E training and capacity-building programs for international and local grantees, partners, and program staff.
  • Build capacity of staff and partners on M&E tools and analysis, data management, data analysis, basic surveying and sampling techniques, report writing techniques, etc.
  • Develop and improve upon organizational grant monitoring and survey tools as well as other data collection forms and information tracking tools to realize effective programming.
  • Design a beneficiary-tracking database that will allow us to disaggregate all our indicators by sex, location, crops cultivated, training attended, etc.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum of five years of development experience with international donor-funded projects.
  • A master’s degree in social sciences or other related field; significant experience in the design and implementation of M&E systems for capacity-building interventions.
  • Previous experience designing and implementing M&E training for international organizations and USAID funded projects and familiarity with USAID rules and regulations.
  • Strong facilitation skills, including the design and management of effective trainings, workshops and meetings with diverse participants.
  • Experience working with international donors, as well as counterparts and beneficiaries.
  • Demonstrated experience in data collection, statistical analysis, and reporting, including experience with computer-based statistical packages and databases (Epi Info, ACCESS, STATA, SPSS, SAS, etc.).
  • Fluency in English is required.
