_____________________________________________________________________________________ Sustainable Agriculture Community Development Programme (SACDEP – Kenya) is a Development Organisation, with its head office based in Thika and working in Central, Eastern, Coast and Rift Valley Provinces of Kenya.SACDEP invites applications from suitably qualified Kenyan citizens to fill in the following posts.

1. Small Holder Agriculture and Food Marketing Coordinator

The overall function of the candidate will be the co-ordination and technical support of activities in the Small Holder Agriculture Processing and Marketing Programme which incorporates Self Endowed Rural Savings and Credit Schemes.This is an intergrated project based in Eastern and Central Provinces of Kenya.

Major Responsibilities

· Organise farmers into Organic Production Groups for Fair Trade Markets.
· Link organised groups to Fair Trade Markets and outlets.
· Mobilisation and Organisation of farmers to form Self Endowed Rural Savings and Credit Schemes.
· Mobilisation and Organisation of farmers to initiate commercial Agri-based Rural Cottage Industries.
· Build effective collaboration with diverse parties including GoK, Credit Providers, CBO and NGOs with a view to linking farmers to markets, credit and information.

Qualifications

· Diploma/Degree in General Agriculture, Agriculture Economics/ Agribusiness
· At least 10 years field experience in Agriculture training at Community level. Experience in mobilizing rural communities in Processing, Packaging, Marketing and Saving & Credit will be a definite advantage.

2) Programme Officer: Renewable Energy

The position will require a person who is able to develop our Young Programme in Renewable Energy.Reporting to the Programme Manager, the staff will be required to work in our New Projects spread in Central Province and areas around Nanyuki.

Professional qualifications.

· Diploma, Bsc in Applied Sciences with a bias towards Mechanical Engineering.
· Practical Skills in designing, production and fitting of Renewable Energy equipments including but not limited to:

1. Wind driven Turbines for generation of electricity.
2. Windmills for driving water pumping.
3. Biogas digesters and fittings – diverse models
4. Hydraulic run pumps
5. Mechanical handpumps.
6. Diverse models of energy saving, Biomas stoves.
7. Animal drawn power equipment.

· 10 years experience in working in a busy equipment production Programme/Unit.
· Similar experience in working in busy Community Based Projects.
· Experience in working for Development Agencies an added advantage.

3) Community Nutrition Officer

SACDEP is strong in Food Security Programmes.

The Community Nutrition component is also growing. Therefore, the candidate will be integrated in other Agriculture Projects but based in Yatta District.

Professional requirements

· Certificate, Diploma or Bsc in Community Nutrition or economics.
· Knowledge and skills in designing, implementing and evaluating community based Nutrition for children and other venerable groups.
· Practical skills in agricultural production particularly aimed at providing communities with
Nutritional micro elements.
· 10 Years experience in working at Community level especially in women and children development projects.
