Duties and Responsibilities
- Responds to all calls of duty by the
intern doctor or nurse on duty whether emergency or otherwise as quickly
as possible.
- Physically review all patients and
instruct, in writing, all recommendations
- Assist the consultant in all wards,
theatres and clinics
- Filling relevant medical examination
forms-P3, physical fitness, age assessment
- Undertake certain specified emergency
surgeries, minor or major, with the assistance of the intern doctor (s) or
student(s)
- Perform postmortems (PMs) and duly fill
autopsy forms
- Attend to court cases
- Prepare and implement annual work plan
based on department work plan
- Conduct routine ward rounds alone or with
consultants
Competencies and Qualifications
- Be a Kenyan citizen
- Be a holder of Bachelor of Medicine and
Bachelor of Surgery (M.B; Ch.B.) from a recognized institution
- One year of Internship in a government
approved facility
- Registered by the Medical Practitioners’
and Dentists Board
- Demonstrate understanding and commitment
to the values and principles outlined in Article 10 and 232 of the
Constitution
- Satisfy the requirements of Chapter 6 of
the Constitution of Kenya
