About The Position
We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented
Data scientist to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess strong
analytical skills and the ability to transform data into actionable insights.
This role requires a combination of technical proficiency, business acumen, and
communication skills to help drive informed decision-making across the
organization, clients and partners. You will apply data science methodologies
to solve complex problems and create predictive models.
Key Responsibilities:
Collect, clean, and preprocess data from various
sources to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
Serve as lead data strategist to identify and
integrate new datasets that can be leveraged through UjuziKilimo product
capabilities, and work closely with the engineering team in the development of
data products.
Execute analytical experiments to help solve problems
across various domains and the agriculture sector verticals.
Identify relevant data sources and sets to mine for client business needs, and collect large structured and unstructured datasets and variables
Devise and utilize algorithms and models to mine
big-data stores; perform data and error analysis to improve models; clean and
validate data for uniformity and accuracy
Analyze data for trends and patterns, and interpret
data with clear objectives in mind
Implement analytical models in production by
collaborating with software developers and engineers
Perform exploratory data analysis to uncover trends,
patterns, and insights.
Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to
visualize key metrics and business performance.
Conduct hypothesis testing, A/B testing, and other
statistical analyses to support business strategies.
Identify opportunities for process improvement and
recommend data-driven solutions.
Communicate findings and insights effectively to both
technical and non-technical stakeholders through presentations, reports, and
visualizations.
Stay current with industry trends, best practices,
and emerging technologies in data analytics.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics,
Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related field.
Proven experience in Data science or a similar role.
Proficiency in data science tools and programming
languages such as SQL, Python, or R.
Experience with data visualization tools such as
Tableau, Power BI, or similar.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to
detail.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to
convey complex data insights to non-technical audiences.
Knowledge of statistical methods and data modeling.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple
tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Knowledge of machine learning techniques and their
applications in business.
Experience with big data technologies such as Hadoop,
Spark, or similar
