We are currently seeking a detail-oriented and experienced
individual to join our team as an accountant. The accountant will be
responsible for overseeing financial operations, maintaining accurate records,
and providing insights to support informed decision-making.
Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
- Prepare and
analyze financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets,
and cash flow statements, regularly to assess the financial health of the
supermarket and identify trends or areas of concern.
- Generate and
distribute financial reports to management, providing insights and
recommendations for improving financial performance and achieving business
objectives.
Budgeting and Forecasting:
- Develop annual
budgets and financial forecasts in collaboration with management,
incorporating input from various departments to ensure alignment with
strategic goals and objectives.
- Monitor
budgetary performance throughout the fiscal year, tracking actual results
against budgeted targets and investigating variances to identify root
causes and recommend corrective actions.
Accounts Payable and Receivable:
- Manage accounts
payable processes, including invoice verification, payment processing, and
vendor reconciliation, to ensure timely and accurate payments while
optimizing cash flow management.
- Oversee accounts
receivable functions, including invoicing, collections, and customer
account reconciliation, to minimize delinquencies and improve cash flow
efficiency.
Inventory Control:
- Coordinate with
operations and procurement teams to establish and maintain accurate
inventory records, performing regular reconciliations and adjustments as
necessary to ensure proper valuation and reporting of inventory assets.
- Analyze
inventory turnover ratios, aging reports, and shrinkage trends to identify
opportunities for cost savings, process improvements, and inventory
optimization.
Compliance and Audit Support:
- Ensure
compliance with accounting principles, industry regulations, and internal
policies and procedures, maintaining proper documentation and supporting
schedules for audits and regulatory filings.
- Assist with
internal and external audits by providing requested documentation,
answering inquiries, and implementing audit recommendations to strengthen
internal controls and mitigate risks.
Qualifications:
- Diploma or
degree in accounting, finance, or related field
- CPA
certification
- Minimum of 2
years experience in accounting preferably in the retail industry.
- Proficiency in
accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with QuickBooks or
similar programs is a plus.
- Strong
analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to interpret
financial data and identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities.
- Excellent
communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate
effectively with teams and communicate financial information to
non-financial stakeholders.
